I felt old when Toy Story 3 came out, I remember watching the first two when they came out. I then felt old when I realized the film's current target audience besides people my age wouldn't even have heard of it. I'm 17.
I'm three years younger and feel the exact same way.
Kinda sad, really.

Seeing mainly tweenie bullcrap on channels like Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network that are SUPPOSED to be for kids.

*SIGH* It's so hard being a (mostly) grown-up cartoon fan...

When I meet people who:

Have never played (or even heard of) Ocarina of Time.
Have never seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
People who think that Good News Week has only been around for a couple of years (Aus).
People who acknowledge any Pokemon past 151, who never saw Dragonball Z and never saw Cheeze TV (Aus).
haha, I'm 21, and love the 2nd generation of pokemon. I stopped watching Pokemon around 2003/2004 when i was 13/14 because I was getting older, and it went off of network tv (i didn't have cable tv). But seriously, the Gold/Silver generation of Pokemon was pretty cool, with Lugia and stuff. I remember when my dad took me to see Pokemon 2000 when i was 10, and Lugia was my favorite. I was never really into Dragon Ball Z. Some kids in my class were, but it wasn't as big as pokemon when i was a kid. I'm not sure what Cheeze TV is...

Everytime a new Pokemon generation comes out.

As far as I'm concerned every Pokemon after Mew doesn't exist...

Why does Pokemon after Mew not exist. Pokemon in the early 00s was still good during the Gold/Silver generation. How old are you? I'm 21, and was still in 4th/5th grade 2000/2001

Same here. It's weird that those excited about a kids movie were teenagers. My cousin that's 6 wasn't excited about it at all.
I actually think toy story 3 was made with the kids who had seen it orginally in mind

think about it it syncs up perfectly with us, andys off to college so are we/already there

anyday and us are both nostalgic for the toys and charachter, this movie was the perfect formula to give us a huge emotional attatchment/punch

oh and calling it a "kids movie" dosnt really do it justice (yeah its made with kids in mind but comone this movie was best picture worthy, as is any piar movie)

Alright you got me. I'm 18 but I don't remember what grade I was in in 2000/2001 (1st or 2nd maybe?) I did overreact a bit. Pokemon Gold/Silver was good, damn good infact. But I will not budge on the fact that the 3rd generation and onward was total crap.

Edit: Wow the quote button is really screwing uo for me tonight. I better read the text before I post it to be sure it's quoteing.

On behalf of all the under 30 posters on this tread, I humbly apologize to the older members of the escapist community for the ignorance of my fellow youth.

That being said allow me to address the argument that, my friend has not heard of X show/movie/game, thus i am old. No, that just means your friend is too young. I was talking with a co worker yesterday and they were explaining that show Modern Family. They talked about one of the father's and i asked if she meant the one from Married with children. She did not know what i meant. That does not mean I'm old, that simply means she is too young to know about it. Plus Married with children was a little before my time anyway. So stop saying you feel old when you are under thirty people. In fifteen years you are going to look back at yourself and wonder "what was i thinking?"

For the record, I'm 24 turning 25. I am not old yet and I plan on taking full advantage of that.
Thanks for that apology on our behalves (from another <30 poster.) It was getting downright embarrassing with people saying, oh I'm 12 but I remember back when Twitter didn't exist LOL I'm so old! im 7 and i can reed now, i feel so old! i m noo beby n kan hit keeburd 2 tipe so olld! /very slight exaggeration ;p

But yeah, my gameplan for aging is to try and turn all my "so old! :( " feelings into "so much smarter & wiser than younger people! :) " feelings. And then I'll only start feeling old very suddenly once I hit 90 years old. Superiority complex and denial all the way, bitchez! *firm nod*

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet but..

OT: Basically when I look at the year some of my favorite games came out.

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee: 1997

14 years ago... God damn I feel old.

I also feel old when I listen to 90's music. At the same time though, I feel nostalgic. So it isn't that bad.

I heard Nirvana on the Oldies station today... nothing makes you feel quite so old as the songs you grew up on hitting those stations.

I did an informal poll of over 200 people at a recent anime convention and i found only about 40% had seen cowboy bebop, less then 30% had seen Akira, and i only found 5 people who'd seen Fist of the North Star. Granted one of those is older than i am, but they're still the anime that molded my tastes. Kinda discouraging to find so few who remember them, especially among a fan group.

I am 22 and where I live there are a load of Freshmen at my University that are, 18, 19 and they ask the guys in my flat if we want to party with them, and our idea of a good time is to sit in our rooms, watching films and drinking cups of tea.
