"What are you listening to?"
"Oh just some Nirvana"
"Who are they?"
...

RAGE! and age.

Having to explain why we call it "rewinding" when there is nothing winding in the first place. Also the fact that I just typed in VHS into google in order to get an image of one (forgot to click images first) to post here and you know what?...... it was the third link down.

see those things there kids? on either side...... that is called tape........ No not the sticky kind, magnetic.......it holds data, kinda like a flash drive does. We used it to watch movies up until about the year 2001.

Mostly the music on my iPod. The most recent stuff I have is from 2010 but thats only a couple of songs out of about 200. I've got stuff like David Bowie, Talking Heads, Backstreet Boys, Boston, Deacon Blue, Vengaboys and perhaps worst of all Cartoons DK

Whenever I start talking about the kick-ass shows of old (Static Shock, Batman: the animated series, Batman Beyond, etc.) and the person I'm talking to goes "What are they?"

Also, remembering the very first episodes of Pokemon, and how the theme song went... great way to make me feel ancient.
This. I remember sitting down and watching the first episode when it first aired. What me feel more old though was trying to explain Jigglypuff's song to my little sister. Heck, I don't think she's even seen a Jigglypuff, let alone seen it sing and pull out its marker pen. Also, watching the first episode again after watching some of the newer ones and seeing how much weight Pikachu has lost. He was so tubby back then. And still being able to spontaneously sing the theme song. Sigh. Good times.

What really makes me feel old is modern kids. At 19, i've lost track of the amount of times I've said the phrase 'kids these days, don't know what they're missing...' in relation to video games and cartoons. Modern kids TV is just so... meh. I recently started rewatching shows from my childhood. Kids these days wouldn't have a clue what a Medabot is, or who Agumon and Gabumon are, or who the original 151 pokemon were. Such a shame.

That and my impending 20th birthday. Gah, such a big number...
oh god........ I just realized I still remember every word of that song...... I want to be.... the very best, like no one ever was...... to catch them is my real test, to train them is my cause..... DAMN IT YOU GOT ME STARTED!!! About a year ago, I went and re-watched the original series up until orange islands...... Good stuff.

Well, I was driving to my friends place today to play some Minecraft with him I passed by my old Elementary school and spotted my nephew playing in the playground for recess. Having him in Kindergarten makes me feel older than I have any right to feel.

So Escapist, what makes you feel old?
Threads like these. :p

Seriously all these kids banging on about "I turned twenty last week! I'm not a teenager anymore! I'm so old and decrepit!" and then me realising that if that's the case then I was already well into my twenties when they started high school. And I know I'm leaving an opening for an older Escapist to level the same argument at me, but I'm just sayin'.

So what makes me feel old? Hearing (or reading) people much younger than me complaining about being old.

Pretty much when my younger cousin didn't understand the phrase "surfing the net" and he asked me who else use that phrase? It took me a few minute or two to realise no one use that phrase anymore!

Also whenever I see a VHS taper or player and the old arcade games (not the 3D ones) make me feel old too.

Gah! No! I was blocking it out but now it's in my head on loop! I will travel across the land, searching far and wide. Each Pokemon to understand, the power that's inside... POKEMON! Must stop! What have we done!

And now I feel even older. Must rewatch the first movie now...

I'm only 18 but this year I start university. In only four years time I will be the teacher, not the student. That makes me feel old.

I realised recently that I've known my oldest friends for 25 years.

i really do pity kids these days nothing was quite like the awe of walking into an arcade and seeing and hearing that :D
Fricken A! - if I could own one arcade cabinet, it would be that one, musty smell and cigarette burns optional of course.

I'm 36, everything makes me feel old, 80's TV, getting out of bed, climbing up stairs, hot weather, cold weather, walking down stairs, and the kettle finishing boiling before your ready for it.

Last week my nephew who's 8 told me that when I die, he'll say he couldn't ask for a better uncle... That's sweet, but I'm 36!

The fact that I am literally the only one in my friendship group that isnt married and has/expecting kids.

Only 23 but I feel old whenever I go out with them and look at the "surroundings".

when kids throw rubbish in my front garden and I yell "the state of kids today!"
That makes me feel old.

(then again when I was a kid, if I'd thrown rubbish in someones garden my mother would have crucified me!)

I actually don't get that feeling. I still have quite a bit of life to live, and there is no use living like a "90's kid" that views everything that came after as new, inferior and scary. The only thing that makes me feel somewhat old is the numerous generations of Pokemon, I just stopped keeping track after generation III and then it left me in the dust.
