2: Mean things
3: Murdah (see: mean people, things)

Everything else is a-ok.

5. A Song of Ice and Fire
Awesome series of books no doubt (Not as good as Wheel Of Time, but then nothing is that good) but I dont see how it classifies as one of your happiest things...Its SERIOUSLY depressing man. Murder, regicide, incest, political fiendishness, torture, betray. We are what 4 books in and nothing good has happened yet o_O. Like I said I love the books but I think shock and sadness are more appropriate links.
Essentially, you're saying:

Your opinion is wrong.

Wheel of Time, the oldest book series in the world next to the books of the Bible, is better.

Your opinion is wrong.

My retort is this: Martin makes the darks darker in the Song, and therefore the dismal, gloomy, barely-visible lights are nearly fluorescent.

A Song of Ice and Fire isn't the same Mary-Sue plotline I've seen in all the other fantasy novels I've read (excluding a select few) and the characters are starkly different (No pun intended). I derive pleasure and happiness out of reading about these characters; these creatures who are so different from one another, with personalities that are strong and well-developed. I was saddened when the Hound died, when Daenerys was named "Mother" by the Dothraki--it almost made me feel as if I had experienced it myself. Martin creates a world that I can fall into by just reading it. No games, no MMOs, no graphics or anything of the sort--just by reading alone. Escaping from the world I am in at this moment and making my exodus to one wherein one of the darkest fantasies of the genre is told--a world in which Martin never fails to continually surprise me in its depth, detail and plot twists--is a feeling I have trouble matching. Call it gritty, call it dirty, call it downright black at times, but it's real. Hide behind "but fantasy isn't real", but the more real the feel of the story, the more you are actually a part of the story.

And I feel very much engaged in the Song.

Hmm... I'm not sure. I'm mostly always cheerful. I guess the following list sums it up, as it's things I encounter most regularly.

-Finding a good game
-Beating said game
-Martial Arts
-The girl I like
-House, M.D.
-Watching "Spirited Away"
-My Beanbag

I think that's it. I can't think of anything else.

1. Films.

2. Anime/Manga.

3. Hanging out with a select group of people.

4. Going to bed after a really long day.

5. Waking up on the days, were you know you have nothing important to do.

6. The soundtrack to Fairy Tail, every single song it really gets me in a good mood.

7. Proving my point in an argument and winning said argument.

8. Receiving a message on the Escapist, I know that sounds a little sad, but I actually feel a little bit happy when I get a quote, badge (which I don't really care for, but they're a nice surprise) or friend request. Even group messages, depending on what they say make me feel good.

9. The film screenings I have on Mondays.

10. When ever I display an act of kindness, and someone retorts, with positive words.

A while ago I would have included more material things in my list. After some tough times and tough lessons, I have a more revised version of seven particular things that make me happy.

1. At least six hours of sleep with my head resting on something relatively soft.
2. At least one lukewarm to air temperature meal a day. (Not bread and water, some substance)
3. Loved ones in general.
4. The outdoors, and generally not being inside. Particularly when few people are around.
5. Physical exercise/exertion.
6. Firearms. Also included are explosives and the gear that goes with them i.e. chest rigs etc
7. A good set of clothes. Now have Duluth jeans, Oakley boots and T.A.D hoodie. Tonka tough.

I fully expect more tough times and more revisions to this list, so it isn't set in stone yet. Not that it matters.

I'm not saying your wrong, merely trying to understand your viewpoint, and by giving you mine on the series its more likely to promote a response I can relate too.

The comment on WoT is more just one of those things readers get. Most people who read a lot have one or two series they just downright worship. Mine is WoT.

Its an interesting perspective you have. I have to agree I like the divergence from the norm. Every time I though I had the series figure out something changed, some died, or came up with a masterful plan which changed the dynamic. 4 books in and I think I finally have a reasonable grasp of where the series is heading. Certainly the deaths of many of the characters are done in such a way that allows you to relate, either through their eyes or someone sufficiently close for you to really feel the moment.
I remember the massacre at the Twins
I felt horrified and betrayed which is an amazing achievement for a book, and also why I refereed to the emotions the way I did.

I see your point, and how you portray it, even if it isnt immediately obvious.

In no particular order.

1) A good Book(just finished "The War of 1812: A Forgotten Conflict", good read if you like history)
2) The Four Seasons song "December, 1963" because I had to play it on my radio shift last night and now it's stuck in my head.
3) The color blue because fuck you it's an awesome color.
4) Miniatures wargaming because it lets me be creative with painting but also keeps me entertained.
5) The original Star Wars trilogy because fuck you the prequels never happened.
6) Having a pint with my friends at the local pub.
7) Transformers toys because.....well they're fucking transformers, what more do you want?
8) Writing because it gives me an excuse to put all my crazy ideas on paper and make them seem slightly less crazy(also NaNoWriMo is coming up soon! Stupidly excited over that).
9) Weekends because I don't have to work and I don't have class.
10) The-Ancible because those guys are awesome and gave me my big shot to become a gaming journalist and I, honestly, owe them everything for giving me a shot at all.
11) Nicolas Pizza in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Best. Pizza. Ever.
12) Did I mention drinking already? Well fuck you I'm mentioning it again.
13) Red-head girls.....sorry it's that damn Irish heritage.
14) Indian girls....alright I just like that exotic feel.
15) Workin' on the radio. It's too much fun sometimes, and it's great for a guy like me who loves to talk but has a face that not even his own mother could love.
16) My mom, she's the best drinkin' buddy I'll ever have.
