I have these friends who hate the Beatles, but bizarrely know nothing about them or their songs.
I asked them why they hated them, and they said, "Because all their songs are just the same things repeated over and over."
I gave several examples of songs that didn't, and they hadn't heard any of them. Not even obscure song either. Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Eleanor Rigby, With a Little Help From My Friends, all basic stuff.
Then later, Here Comes the Sun came on their Pandora station, and they mentioned they liked it. I told them it was a Beatles song and they were really surprised. They didn't even recognize the band on the album cover.
This, to me, goes beyond a simple matter of taste. If they had heard the music and decided they did not like it. Fine. But this is willful ignorance, and outright disdain for something you know nothing about.
Examples of this downright shunning of knowledge and understanding always get me in tizzy. Not just with music, but with anything. Thankfully, I mostly kept my cool, and I will not talk to them about music. Ever.
