True, i never said that they were not. Well, provided you hit them right. I wouldn't try anything that I wasn't 100% on in a real situation if I didn't have to.
Is there any martial art where the fancy stuff is more practical than the basics?
Concerning Taekwondo, i learned the kicks that would be best applicable to a life threatening situation, then practice the hell out of it. It has worked well so far, and supplemented with the other martial arts, i can say with some confidence that i can defend myself fairly well.
