I've studied Tae Kwon Do a little. As far as advice is concerned, train hard. If you are doing any kind of competitive sparring, or in boxing pretty much at all, do exorcises to reduce your sight-to-action reaction time. Depends how you deliver the kick. Slamming the foot straight up the groin isn't ideal.
