Im just wondering what media player the escapists use?
And no, spotify doesnt count here.
Anyway, I used VLC for any files but I didnt really like using it for music and I had spotify for that anyway but then spotify broke down and I decided to use winamp instead and that had a stroke and now im going back to VLC.

So, what media player do you use and WHY?

iTunes for music, it just kinda works.
Media Player Classic for movies. MPC combined with CCCP allows me to play just about any movie or video I like, and it's just so convenient. I mostly love that, in full screen, the bottom bar instantly disappears unless you move your mouse down there. Very convenient indeed.

Foobar2000.

Very lightweight, highly customizable, I've spent quite awhile organising it to be exactly how I want with the exact features I need.

Basically it doesn't crash and it does exactly everything I want perfectly. I've been through a lot of media players before I came to settle on this one.

I use windows media player as my main one, its just works, it displays everything beautifully, and its leaves my actual music files alone! I have deleted my entire library by accident waaaay too many times to use songbird or iTunes as my main player. Why they can't understand that removing from library and delete from computer are 2 completely different functions are beyond me. I love the iStore and genius though, great for podcasts and playlists, too bad iTunes on windows is unusable. Songbird has some great features too though, some of the same problems as iTunes though, so WMP it is.

I use DivX to play my movies, and iTunes to play music. I like both because they're easy to use and not as painfully ugly as wmp is.

Windows Media Player 11 or 12, not sure, think it's 12 on XP, has always worked for me. If I need it fer certain files win amp and VLC are back ups

Winamp is the only one I like... I wanted to try Foobar2000, but it's depressingly ugly and I could not get skins to work right.

Winamp for the win[sub]amp[/sub]
Bad puns aside it really is the best,
it'll play nearly anything and will sync easier with any mp3 player including the ipod.
2 small problems it wont work with the ipod touch YET but they are working on it and also unless you get the premium version you cant rip cds.

Songbird, because it wipes the floor with every other Media Player out there. Customizable with applications and skins, default package is very smooth to work and well organised.

On this computer: Winamp for music and VLC for movies.
On my computer: WMP all the way!

Windows media player, I can't be bothered to get any other. Besides, I don't use media enough to warrant a good one.

Usually Windows Media Player, though I have occasionally used iTunes. When I'm on the internet I used to regularly use Last.fm for music, though I'm being lured more by We7 now...

Windows Media Player with CCCP for anything except Blu-ray. I use Power DVD for Blu-rays.
