Robert Jordan.

Mainly his Wheel of Time series, but I've also read a few of his Conan books.

If you liked those books by Heinlein, I'd recommend reading Red Planet and Tunnel in the Sky, both are great books which live up to Heinlein's high writing standards for Sci-Fi :D

And now, onto the topic:
Well. I have certainly read quite a few books by Dan Abnett. Probably most books by a single author, with Robert A. Heinlein and David Weber close behind.
What can I say? I love good Sci-Fi books :p

Despite being nearly 20, I really enjoy the Artemis Fowl books.
Have you read "Airman"? I think it's his best book yet, blows Artemis right out of the water IMO.

Anyway, the most books I've read of an author is probably Terry Pratchett, mainly because he's written so many of them. I've read pretty much all the books of Charles Stross (who, along with Pratchett, is my favourite author), and a lot of Eoin Colfer's stuff (actually prefer his none-Artemis Fowl books, like The Supernaturalists and the aforementioned Airman). If Isaac Asimov counts as "modern", then I've read the majority of his books as well.

not yet, but I have read The Supernaturalist. I think...god. I haven't read on of his books in at least 3 years. I can't recall...shit. But I know I didn't read Airman.

Time for a book binge!

Man, I am jealous of your name (Lazarus Long)! Great profile pic too.

I'm getting a lot of good advice (Maybe I should have limited this to sci fi, as that is my favorite type of fiction) and I'm checking out Amazon where I got to read some of this "Terry Pratchet".. smooth writing style. I may check him out some more.

I listened to Brother Odd by Koontz on CD on my 2 hour a day commutes: really great stuff. Quantum foam.. I have to look up and see if that is real. I've since picked up another broterh Todd book on sale.

I'm not sure, but it's either Dan Abnett, Graham McNeill or William King... yes, all of those books are from the Black Library. So what? :p

If we're allowed to include comic books / graphic novels, though, it's definitely Alan Moore's works I've read the most of. Can't beat the master.

Terry Pratchet. I've read most of the discworld books, (all but those defined as childrens) as well as Good Omens. He's a great author.

Bill Bryson, probably. He's simply brilliant, especially The Life And Times Of The Thunderbolt Kid which is one of my all time favorite books.

Since most of the books I've read this & last year were written between the late 1700s & the 1910s, it's easy to narow it down to Lemony Snicket & JK Rowling. Apparently I have a fetish for stories about insane men who are trying to kill 3 children.

Paula Volsky. I read all ten of her books; I wish she wrote more... last one (The Grand Ellipse) was in 2000.

Funny, I first found one of her books (Illusion) at a thrift store when I was thirteen. I bought it because the cover looked strange. She just grew on me, so I bought all of her books and I have to say that I love each and every one of them. Some of them are based upon historic events, but in her own fantasy world and her world is fascinating.
