Because there doesn't seem to be enough RAGE or flame-bait here I'll just lay this one down-
2001: A Space Odyssey
Now I'll qualify this by adding in that I liked the two good parts, that is: apes beating each other up with bones and the trip to Jupiter with HAL 9k going rogue. However, like several recent anime, the good parts just filled me with hope that was wasted when the bad parts became weaponized awful through the contrast.
All the parts not involving monkey war or man learning once again that it cannot manufacture perfection were ill-conceived assaults on the eyes and ears. The near-constant screeching sound in many of the human-era parts, the remarkably annoying scenery shots that were run through a color filter, and the UNBEARABLE amount of nothing that would happen on screen for tens of minutes at a time. And trust me, I know how to enjoy a good bit of nothing as evidenced by my love of ARIA, Sketchbook, Natsume Yuujinchou, and Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou, but I swear 2k1 had entire television episodes worth of dead screen time where the video of color-filtered fly-over scenery looped endlessly or zoomed in on a dude's eyes as his mind was presumably blown by something so awesome it couldn't translate over film. I suppose some of the color-and-light shows were groundbreaking at the time, but it has not aged well as I can get that kinda thing out of the visualizations in Windows Media Player now and not have to have it play to a constant screech?
Did I mention the screeching that I thought must have been a stream error, my computer finally revolting against my shameless abuse of its puny cooling system or maybe a goddamn metal workshop taking up residence in my middle ear?
This one disappointed me more than any other movie ever and therefore lands at the bottom of the "movies [I've] watched" list. Maybe Twilight would land here, but I have no intention of ever getting into that crap-storm on either side by completely avoiding it.
