I was talking to a friend of mine about how bad I wish certain movies would be released in theaters again so I could see them. What movie do you wish you could see in theaters, either because you missed it or you weren't born at the time?
For me, it would have to be the original theatrical cut of Alien. I wasn't around when it was in theaters and I woulda loved to have seen it.

Probably the Shawshank Redemption.

Hearing the soundtrack for that movie in cinema quality sound would be amazing...

Once upon a time in the West - great movie, got it on bluray now. The soundtrack still gives me the creeps.

I'd have liked to see GHOSTBUSTERS. Sucky thing is, they just re-released it in theaters last month but I wasn't able to make it to a showing.

I also think I would've enjoyed BACK TO THE FUTURE trilogy.

Of course, I do have a projector at home, so I can sort of recreate the theater experience, but I digress. ^_^

Agreed. Was the first film I thought of when I read the title. To see Alien for the first time in the cinema/theater would of been amazing.

Besides that I'd to have seen the original star wars films when they first came out, I've seen them at a cinema since but seeing a film for the first time at the cinema has an impact that is lacking when you see a film for a second (or more) times.

I didn't even really like the movie, but that train crash sequence had me shaking in my chair. I would love to have seen that on the big screen with surround sound subwoofers.

Avatar. I know it doesn't win any awards for storytelling or originality, but a small TV screen does not do that film justice, and it would've been spectacular to see that in 3D in theaters.

Good choice sir! Sergio Leone happens to be my favourite filmmaker.

Although I would have to say Scarface, however. I would have loved to see it in that era, with all the disco, flash cars and cheesy music.

agreed; amazing movie :)

although I love the Man with no name trilogy more
Yeah, got that one too. :D

When either Eastwood or Bronson are staring back at you from a big screen they're so badass. Even Chuck Norris would get nervous. :D

It's all eye candy, the rest is meaningless fluff.

At my theater that scene was way too loud.

OT: Serenity, Star Wars, True Grit, Lion King[footnote]is it cheating if we have, and just want to see it again?[/footnote], Ooh shawshank redemption, there are more, just can't quite remember.

Matrix - Kind of too young and it wasn't really on my radar back then.
Alien - Don't feel like i even need to explain. I think with the larger than life screen and being fully engrossed in the amazing sound design would've created amazing tension.
The Thing - See above.
Summer Wars - The possibility was there but i didn't have time to see it :(. The crazy epicness of the film deserved the big screen.

I agree. It might be argued that in terms of sound the scene was kind of realistic, but that also meant it was so loud that it was actually close to painful to hear and it all becomes just a mess of screeching noises

It was way too loud on blu-ray as well, but I have a kind of a sadistic love for movie scenes that shatter my preconception in the loudest possible way. Like the "Doc Oc awakening" scene in Spider-Man 2, or the "ED-209 malfunction" scene from Robocop.

It's been repeatedly said, but it's the clearest choice for me - Alien. To see that film before I knew what it looked like, to have no idea what was coming... God that would have been fantastic.

Most of the classics most people have heard of really, all 10 times better than the crap I've seen in the last 5 years.

Especially films like Fantasia, Space Odyssey 2001, Saving Private Ryan, Raiders of the Lost Arc, Silence of the Lambs, Shawshank Redemption, The Exorcist, etc. Fuckin' legendary stuff.
