Inglorious Basterds
I don't know why but I just couldn't stand that movie. I think it was because I had to pause it every 5 seconds to read the subtitles.

OT: Pulp Fiction. Loved it. Nuff said.

I've noticed a trend in movie forums. It seems that a large group of people are sorting movies into 2 different groups: Bad or Overrated.

Bad would be: Transformers, Expendables, Battlefield: Earth, etc.

Overrated would be: any movie ever favored by anyone, ever (most notably Inception for some reason).

Now, the movies in the bad category are bad, but I think that we get the idea by now, and we need a breath of fresh air.So today, I declare a temporary end to the negativity and ask my fellow Escapists what movies they consider great, or perfect even.

Mine would have to be the Dark Knight. Yeah, I know it's not the most diverse choice, but its a movie that I can and will watch again and again.
I agree 100% with Dark Knight. It does get hate for being...well known I guess...cool. But it is a great movie. Batman Begins is fantastic too.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
It somehow manages to simultaneously be Heart-warmingly Uplifting and Crushingly Depressing.

I can not think of a more flawless movie than The Incredibles. It's tame enough that little billy can watch it while being just as deep in character development than any "mature" film.

I liked John Carter of Mars. It was a really good action movie with great visuals and while the plot was nothing spectacular, it was still good. It wasn't like Avatar where you could immediately tell it was Dancing With Wolves or whatever that movie is called. They focused on the personalities of the aliens instead of bombarding our brains with lore, which was nice. Mark Strong being Mark Strong wasn't bad because he wasn't in much of the movie.

Anyways........anyone ever see the movie Time Bandits?

Because its goddam hilarious.

Harry Potter Movies. (I really shouldn't they
're so much worse than the books but still..)
I got Angels and Demons free with my psp in addition to MGS: Peacewalker....or was it my ps3? Or my friends ps3/psp? Anyways I never watched The DaVinci Code (I still to this day have no idea what it is about. Something involving the Mona Lisa?) but we watched it because I kinda like Tom Hanks and I never pass up free movies. It was surprisingly good. Had the large hadron collider, illluminati, puzzle solving, tom hanks kicking ass. Quite cool.

Night of the Hunter...The Reverend Harry Powell has many imitators but none match the stature of Robert Mitchum...no not even Nathan Fillion.

All of the Resident Evil movies.
I mostly enjoy watching movies with atleast something to make me think, but those movies appeal to the incredibly immature part of me that enjoys gratuitous amounts of violence, gore and explosions.

I seem to agree with alot of people.

usual suspect, pulp fiction, Up(SQUIREL), fight club, LOTR, Equilibrium, 12 monkeys(Pitt is so awesome as a crazy bastard), Snatch, Sin city(I really really enjoyed that movie when I first saw it and I didn't expect to), Seven, dark knight.

that makes me seem like a violent person doesn't it... I'm sure there are non violent once but I can't think of them of the top of my head.
forest gump I suppose, the Iron giant(Thats no tears there's something in my eye!)

for comedy, I like my comedy silly and over the top, I'm there for the laughs dammit!
monty Phyton and the search for the holy grail and the naked gun series.

I can conclude it's hard to say whats my absolute favorite but I have a pretty solid like top 25

I'm probably gonna be absolutely hated for this, but I really enjoyed Equilibrium. I dunno why, but the whole dystopian future thing (while not new) combined with kick-ass action sequences and gun-play was totally awesome. And Sean Bean's role in it was far, far underrated.

let me guess, you didn't read the first page of the threat? It gets named numerous times, it's a bit of a cult hit in the geek/nerd circles at least. And your right it's awesome. No hatred for you today. Might I redirect you to some threads about sexual orientation, feminism or racism?
