I'm lucky that I can listen to music whilst I sit at my desk during work, and a lot of people have music playing while working even if they don't get to choose what it is.

What are you currently listening to?

Me: A bit of Hip-Hop spliced into IDM and Modest Mouse.

Whatever they play on the intercom. Its against the rules to listen to music at work. And considering this is a grocery store, its all family friendly, 20 year old songs. Afew good ones though.

Sometimes I listen to Dimmu at work just so I can tell my friends I listened to Dimmu at work.

Rock N' Roll and Metal, from youtube now playing Halford - Cyberworld (live version)
There are songs that are good that don't belong to this genre but mainly I listen to these two.
Not DeathMetal (Growling) and not a big fan of too slow Rock either but otherwise pretty much anything in that genre.

Not working at the moment but when I did I worked in nurseries so the music I had to listen to was mostly nursery rhymes or one of those kid-friendly dance routines CDs.
It's kind of overly cheery but it's still good fun.

Mostly industrial and metal bands. Since I'm working nights in a grocery store, I'm allowed to use my ipod while I work. I don't think I would have survived the christmas season without it. One time I managed to play my ipod over the PA system, and had Aesthetic Perfection blasting throughout the store.

at college I listen to a mix of metal and Jrock. I occasionally have the urge to listen to some classic rock too

It varies. From hiphop to the likes of Mark Lanegan and Isobel Campbell, to That Handsome Devil to Massive Attack.

Well, I'm a student, and I wouldn't dare to be caught listening to music during lectures, but while doing homework I listen to a wide variety, ranging from J-Pop to heavy metal to classical to old rock. But nothing hip-hop/rap related, and dubstep is a no-no.

Sadly it's not up to me what we listen to. The radio is always on one of two stations, and they both suck. One only plays the current top 10 over and over and over, the other plays the same 3 hits from the 80s over and over and over.... God damn I fucking hate radio.

I wish I could be in charge of the music for one day... I'd put Wumpscut's Ich Will Dich on loop and make everyone too uncomfortable to package the sausages ever again.

I listen to that station that my boss always has on, that plays the same easy-listening music all the time. It's like thirty songs looped. I hate it.

Lately I have being playing alot of The Clash and other punk bands in work, dunno why just feeling in the mood for some punk music.

Usually I just play a new album I've bought or just leave my ipod on shuffle in work.

Not really work, but rather school for me. I usually listen to anything that doesn't distract me too much while working (i.e. something like Gangnam Style [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bZkp7q19f0]). Mostly that will leave me listening to something that I don't need to pay much attention to...like Dubstep.

Mostly a lot of metal and songs that I would definitely not be comfortable playing out loud to my coworkers. I'm 90% sure that at least some of them are metalheads as well, but I'm not sure whether they consider anything beyond Iron Maiden to be exotic...

Arch Enemy
Amon Amarth
Cobalt
Cloudkicker
Children of Bodom
Mindless Self Indulgence
Periphery
The Algorithm

And various others...

I think I'd be more inclined to help with the shopping if that was the norm. :D

As for me. A lot of jazz, metal, industrial and goth bands. Whatever comes up when my ipod's on shuffle really.

A Hermit's Cave
Absolutely nothing at all...

A very phone-centric job, mine so listening to music in the background is very 'unprofessional'. However, sometimes I'll just listen to whatever's on my iPod.

I work nights at a store, so I put on what's on my Ipod. Mostly game and film soundtracks (I even have expanded scores!). It really helps me get through the day, especially when the bosses put on those annoying pop CDs with atrocities such as "Paradise" by Coldplay. Max Payne 3's music kicks all of their asses.
