For games such as PGR4 or spray and pray FPS's, i listen to metal or hard rock band such as slipknot(opium of the people is good for apocolyptic games), the first drowning pool singer( the one ho died) etc. For everything else, I just sit in silence to get into my state of concentration*cough* portal *cough*.

I tend to listen to ambient music when I'm playing, usually Eluvium or maybe some Talk Talk.

for me it depends on the system as well. When I'm playing something like Ecco the Dolphin, i usually put on something distubing and dark like the Dresden Dolls. for 2D platformers on the nes nothing beats Flogging Molly, and the Monkey Island series to Queen is just plain funny

I always listen to the game's soundtrack. Even if there isn't any ambient music, the games I buy and keep have some sort of sound that gives gameplay cues; blaring over that puts me at yet another disadvantage.

(The only exception is playing Solitaire during the news.)

Ironically enough, I listen to other video game music :) particularly Silent Hill music.

I listen to my entire library, which, as I said in the "Tell us something about yourself" thread, contains a jesus-load of everything.

Usually I listen to what I was listening to before I started playing.
I can concentrate well enough without game sound, I've topped the scoreboards of both SourceForts and CoD2 with no ingame sound and music from "Good Morning Vietnam" playing.

Have we, hmm, I must not have just got to the point when I hit the search button. If I'm banned, then i will go into the feetle position in the corner of my dark room, grasp my guitar hero controller with both hands and begin cradling back and froth.

And a little F.Y.I. this topic didn't apply to GH and definatly not that *spits* rock band, £180, us europeans and you ausies have been royally screwed once again.

I go with the game sound if its a story game.

With online FPSes... normally a fast song.

For when I played a WoW paladin, Warriors and Warriors of Light by Freedom Call. They're scarily similar.

Usually just in-game music, but if I feel the need for my own blend of aural goodness...

Hardstyle baby! Or trance if the game requires concentration rather than a full head of steam.
