I guess I'm kinda weird in that I don't listen to anything while I game. I prefer to let follow the mood set by the game's music.

I used to listen to a lot of classical music when I play games but I found myself becoming irritable if I listened to it for to long.

Nothing. For you, RPGs may add to the atmosphere, but so do the voices in FPSs.
Mostly in single-player though, because there are the voices of the NPCs, their talking, the enemies' voices, but you can still hear the footsteps of your enemy in multiplayer mode, and music just generally distracts you from concentrating on the game itself.

sadly, imma bit of a geek when it comes to this. I tend to listen to some 8bit techno or something like that. Look up YMCK for some good times....other than that I just whack on some alter bridge, or Logan..something like that

I listen to whatever music happens to be playing in the video game.

Oddly enough, I did listen to the original, unaltered version of OoT's Fire Temple music while I was typing up a paper for English class. It helped me focus somehow. Weird.

Depends.

Any world war II game ever - German War and March songs.
Strategy - Classical.
Retro or Modern/Post-Apocalyptic RPG - Oldies
Fps - Oldies (Mostly around the Vietnam era.)
Medieval RPG - Stronghold soundtrack. (what?)

Usually I stick to the in-game music when gaming, although I make an exception for the scenario (yet to arise) that the in-game music is repugnant. Sticking with the in-game I find helps set the mood that the developers wanted, plus there's often musical cues and such (or just sound cues)that I'd miss.

Otherwise, I rock out with metal. When I used to play WoW I'd have music on, but it was the guild's DJ thing across Ventrilo.

SUPER IMPORTANT UPDATE:

Electronica works well with sports games.

For some reason.

None. I always stick to the music and sound in-game, it helps me get into the game, and I consider it a part of the experience as a whole and shifts in the tone of music can sometimes indicate whether there are still enemies around.

Try The Pogues, if you enjoy Flogging Molly.

I listen to metal for online, otherwise whatever music the game gives me is good enough.

Oh God, i now love Aphex Twin combined with a good FPS and a bacon butty.

It's wrong, but right at the same time.
