What music have you been listening to recently?

My dad gave me a great album (came free with some magazine) containing a bunch of obscure pseudo rock/folk bands inspired by The Band (the one Bob Dylan rolled with back in the day).

Some REALLY good stuff on it - bands that I've heard of (and love) and others I've never known. It includes Sparklehorse, Drive-by Truckers, Will Johnson, Mercury Rev, Grandaddy (the band that got me into music) and a bunch of others.

Yay!! Mercury Rev and Grandaddy! Amazing bands that almost no-one i know has ever heard of.
I'd recommend also giving The Flaming Lips and The Beta Band a try

But, yeah. I've become almost obsessed with the soundtrack to Portal 2 and cannot wait for Valve to get Volume. 3 to us.
Beyond that, some Tilly & The Wall. A splash of Radiohead and some Chemical Brothers

I just received my copy of Mercenary's new album. They have a new lead singer and a new lineup, so I was a little skeptical of how their new album would sound. I am very pleased to announce that I freak'n LOVE their new sound! They are just as powerful as ever! This is my favorite album of 2011 so far!
