What musicians do you think aren't famous enough for how good they are

I gotta agree with Porcupine Tree, especially "Voyage 34" and the 40-odd minute improv of Moonloop on "Transmission IV".

I'd also have to say Frank Turner, British singer/songwriter/guitarist. He was in punk band Million Dead then embarked on a solo folk career, but kept a lot of his punk bitterness. Probably the wittiest lyrics I've ever heard.

Devin Townsend. He's from Canada and produces some fantastic sound. <a href=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5BqyluKkk0>This is from an album called 'Ziltoid the Omniscient' and the album is about an Alien invading Earth for the ultimate cup of coffee. There is also his new Album called 'Addicted!' that I strongly recommend and comes with a re-release of 'Hyperdrive' which is on Ziltoid. Devvy is far too talented to be so unknown.

Edit: Sorry, just thought of an Australian punk band called Frenzal Rhomb. Their music is fantastic and their concert work is fantastic. Saw them at a bar at my uni and they packed the entire thing out, had the crowd going crazy with mosh and outrageous singing. Check them out, too.

Maybe not aren't as famous, but deffinitely underappreciated would be Pink.

But your original quesiton would either be VV Brown or Little Boots.

Pink, underappreciated? It might just be an Australian thing, but you can't listen to more than 15 songs on the radio in a row without one of them being pink. She'd be an example of someone I think gets far too much attention for her talent (she's not bad, but seriously, nobody should get that much airtime).

You know, it actually is an Australian thing. She's absolutely loved more than oxygen over there and it's kinda crazy, but elsewhere it's nowhere near as intense which I think's kinda weird that she wouldn't equally as loved in America at least.

And yes, i do overuse the italicization feature.

That's the one. Found it a little too slow, and it lost the Celtic sound I loved.

Steve Albini

He produced about a million bands like Nirvana and The Pixies and Jarvis Cocker and such, and was the frontman of the greatest punk band ever, Big Black (in my opinion) but nobody seems to have heard of him.

Albini is AWESOME. I think anyone who's truely into alternative music would probably know who he is. Maybe, that's just wishful thinking and I spend too much time talking to music nerds on the net. But in the sphere Albini operates in, he's pretty much recognised I'd say...

I find it funny that a lot of the bands people mention are the forerunners of their respective genres.
