Norse, Egyptian and Greek mythology. All thanks to one of my favourite RTS games, Age of Mythology. And people say you learn nothing from games!

Greek Mythology is my pick, the Romans simply leeched off the greek and re-named their gods, stating that they're the descendants of Hercules, therefore everybody needs to eat shit.
Except they're not. They're descendants of Aeneas. Herakles was a son of Zeus, and Aeneas was the son of Aphrodite. Not related at all.

As you can probably tell - my choice is Classical mythology. The collective term for both Greek and Roman, since they are, as you've rightly stated, the same damn thing.
I know it best because I have an A-level in it. Pointless college courses FTW.

I know most about Greek mythology, from some educational computer game I played when I was little and a couple of books on the battle of Troy (novels 'cos I'm probably not hardcore enough to sit through the Illiad).. and obviously though Wikipedia too.
Oh God...me neither. I studied it through college, though we only did it in parts. I tried to read it recently, and I got to the scene where...huh...who was Achilleus' mother? Thetis, that's right. When Thetis went to get Achilleus' armour. I couldn't continue. Had to go read Machiavelli instead.

Irish because I am, here is a tip never pick up a comb off the ground or a banshee will get you.
Lets face it, comb or not she'll get you eventually... ***** be crazy.

OT: I would say it's a toss up between Irish and Greek but I am no expert.

I know a crap ton about the Ancient Greek Mythology, but that's because I learned about it when I was ten, and lets face it, Mount Olympus just kicks ass.

Norse and Greek.

I live in Denmark and have always found vikings to be fucking awesome, so I pretty much know everything there is to know about the mythology.

And Greek because it is extremely interesting stories, so I read a lot of books on it, and some novels that were... what could you call it, "novelisations" of the Illiad and the Odyssey. Really remarkable books.

I should probably start fact checking my posts in subjects that I vaguely remember.
Besides that, any opinions about the event prior to the departure to troy?
You remember, the one in which the gods needed to be pleased so that the wind would blow and let the ships sail across the asegean sea.
I really can't remember names, it's pointless.
He had to scarifice his daughter, yada yada. If you can follow me, I'd appreciate if you would remind me the name of that person, I can't seem to remember.

I'm very, very good with Celtic, Norse and Greek mythologies.
I'm very, very fucking average with the Egyptian, Judeo-Christian, Persian and Indian.
And I'm completely clueless with Japanese, Chinese and Slavic.
As in - totally clueless, but interested because of how genuinely different they are, particularly in the case of the Japanese myths that I've casually browsed over.

Also - because no-one else is gonna say it - I pretty much don't care about the incredibly rich African mythologies. I don't know why, maybe its because I'm secretly, inherently racist, or mythist, but they just don't interest me that much.
Perhaps it is a cultural thing, as if I subconsciously don't want to spoil anything for myself, as if I'm too scared to go after the very first stories....but whatever.
I feel I should mention the Native American stories here as well.
Y'know - just for shits and gigs.

The only mythology I familiar with is Chinese well I know about the Chinese zodiac animal's race (why the zodiac animal are listed in that order) and the tale of Sun Wukong Aka the Monkey Prince (not in great dept but the general outline).
I read story about the race from my childhood while I had look up the legend of the Monkey Prince online since I was interested by that story.

I know a LOT about ancient Greek mythology, even though I've never taken a class. I just now started realizing how weird it is that my mom read me Greek myths as a child more often than children's stories.....

I know ancient Roman mythology is really similar, but I don't know a lot about that.

Not sure if sarcastic, but I'll answer anyhow. You're thinking of Agamemnon, who had to sacrifice his daughter Iphigenia, much to his wife's dismay, and then she killed him when he got home. So. Yeah.
I'm really not sure how I felt about that. Agamemnon DID owe Menelaus his support..and he couldn't have just sat home.
But then, he also sacrificed his daughter for the sake of honour. Ass.

Mostly Greek Mythology. I'm half-Greek, so... yeah. At one point, I knew pretty much every Greek myth by heart. And yes, even the obsure or long ones. Having an Uncle who's a bit of a scholar on the subject (and is Greek) helps tremendously. Over time, it has been partially forgotten to make room for other myth, such as Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Norse, etc.

A bit of this and that but mainly the Norse/Aesir mythology, probably because my mother exersice this faith, I've asked why and she claims it's because of moral reasons, in any case she has taught me a lot about it and we keep the closest thing u get to "bible" around: Eddan. and I've read it a couple of times and I know there are several versions of it and we got the one written by Snorre Sturlasson, it is a younger and more "modernized" version (as far as that goes, since it is assumedly written 800 years ago).
