Norse mythology because i did an assignment on it in Study of Religion. I could have chosen any mythology but the Norse one was just so AMAZINGLY awesome. i mean, come on. The world of fire and the world of ice come together to form a frost giant that spawns mankind from his armpit and is later killed by odin and his corpse is turned into Earth.

... I probably did norse in my Study of Religion assignment for the lulz. After all i did put in Flying Spaghetti Monsterism as well.

Norse, Greek, and Egyptian are my main specialties, but I know a lot of Aztec stories as well. Most of my learning started from watching TV. I watched a lot of cartoons as a kid, but I was also genuinely interested in the History Channel, Animal Planet, and other 'education' programming.

What helped nurse those interests were my favorite medias though. The Thor comics made me really dig into Norse and YuGiOh brought about a much more defined interest in Egyptian history and mythology. Hell, I have The Final Judgment tattooed on my back XD.

I used to read Greek myths as a kid, so yeah... I know a ton of ancient Greek stuff.

Although I've probably forgotten a lot of it.

Greek, mostly. A little of Roman because they were Greek spin-offs, and some Egyptian. How I know all this? Rick Riordan.

Greek and Roman because I loved reading mythologies as a kid and those were my favorites. I liked Norse a good bit as well. My memories hazy on most of them, though.

Simple enough. If you know anything about ancient mythology - be it to do with sagas, monsters or anything like that - then tell me which country or time's mythology you know best (e.g. Ancient Greek) and where you got the knowledge from, be it books, TV or games on the subject.

For me, I know a little bit of everything, including a few Dreamtime stories, but on the whole I'd say Japanese. And since I actually know some Japanese, I'm able to translate bits of the names without too much help, such as yuki-onna (literally, 'snow woman'.) I learned Japanese at school, but my knowledge of the mythology is, for the most part, tangential learning that started from Touhou or (more recently) Okami.

So that's what I know best. What about you guys?
Christianity. Raised Pentecostal. It used to freak my atheist ex out how much I referenced biblical mythology.

I'd say greek, read plenty a books about it when I was little........ because I was too old for Barney the purple dinosaur but too young to really understand Lord of the rings.

Followed by Norse mythology.......... for similiar reasons

I have a damn near encyclopedic knowledge of Norse and Grecian mythology. My mother read us those stories instead of 'grimms fairy tales.' Obviously the versions we got as children were a little less graphic but the gist was the same. There were some odds and ends from other myths mixed in there.
She didn't like the other stories. She felt they didn't teach proper lessons.

My mother is an odd lady.

I'm a Classical Civilisation student so I'm well versed in both Roman and Greek myth. However, I do know a lot about Norse and Japanese myth as well. I'm a general myth nerd really.

Mostly classical Greek stories. The first book I ever bought with my own money was the Odyssey.
Almost all my knowledge of the Egyptian and Norse mythologies come from Age of Mythology.

Greek, Norse, and Roman because of Mythology class in High School, as well as 'Deities and Demigods'. Judeo-Christian because of Theology class and geographical location.
You had a mythology class in high school? Sick.

Seriously, I was thinking about this exact question yesterday. How strange...

Mine would be Ancient Rome. It's always interested me and as a result I took Classical Civilisations at GCSE level (Class of 6 people!)
Got an A, because I'm awesome :p
The stuff I probably enjoyed the most were reading Virgil's Aeneid or Ovid's Metamorphoses.

Greek, like the back of my hand, because of this cassette series called "D'aulaire's Greek Myths." I actually like and am fascinated by ancient mythologies.
