The main characters I want are:

Mega Man, who I seriously believe should have been in the first one.

Crono and Magus, since Crono is the main character and I think Magus would make a good addition. Some of Crono's moves could use other characters, and Magus' Final Smash could be his Black Hole attack

Ryu Hayabusa, since the original Ninja Gaiden is an NES title.

If they want to add another MGS character, Ninja Raiden.

Simon Belmont, or at least someone from the Castlevania series.

Once again, Mega Man.

Who do you think would be a good character?

If it was only some sort of expansion to Brawl then probaably off the top of my head...Pac-man or deBlob but yeah even then i wouldn't think these characters will see the light of day in smash bros.

i hope microsoft buys a share in the game like sega and konami did last time, so they can add BSOD as a new character. every time someone picks it, the game will crash irreparably. good riddance.

I know most people are joking but roastbeefy what you must understand is that super smash bros is only really for nintendo characters and it is not their descision to use thrid party characters in the game. Hence why Megaman has not, is not and NEVER WILL be in super smash bros.

I would like to see gorden freeman and master cheif, cuase we all know thats a fight that needs to be done. Although tbh, nintendo could offer this is downloadable contact through the online wii shop as we don't need an other smash bro's game. ohh and Bomberman, I don't want Chuck Norris to be in it cuase No japanies person is gonning to have heard of him. Also I would like a way to play as our Miis. Man watching me beat up meta knight and pit at the same time would completaly end all goals in my life.

A group fight between a) a team comprised of every spiky-haired JRPG character, and b) a gigantic, player-controlled pair of scissors.

Could be named "All Your Hair Are Belong To Us".

Then explain Solid Snake. He's MUCH more "third party" than MegaMan is, yet he's still in Brawl.

Why?
Because the gaming community still has a little respect for the charaters portrayed and we wouldn't want that getting crushed. Brawl was good, but a huge disapointment for anyone who played the older games and anyone who listened to the years of hype.

Looking back on it now, the hype machine never claimed that Brawl would have smooth controls or interesting, varying levels like Melee did. So I guess it wasn't a disapointment, just a big letdown.

The characters would obviously have to meet (to current mindset) two criteria: be classical icons of Video Gaming and be kid-friendly, since that is the demographic that SSB targets to (sorry, Kratos, Gordon Freeman, Ryu Hayabusa, and Master Chief fans). Following that:

Megaman - A classic choice with a lot of potential.
Lloyd Irving - The "Tales" series of games is as popular in Japan as Final Fantasy is stateside, and personally, I feel Tales of Symphonia to be the best thus far. Basic sword attacks for 'A', techniques like Sword Rain and Demon Fang set to 'B'; hell, Tales is practically using the Super Smash Bros. control scheme already.
Knuckles - An expansion of introducing Sonic in SSBB. Why Knuckles instead of Shadow? Because many gamers today feel that the current-generation Sonic games fall pitifully short of Sonic's past genius, so a character from that past generation of Sonic glory feels more appropriate (as cool as I must admit I think Shadow is).

It's just milking a franchise for more money. I bought brawl and felt ripped off. I would have been satisfied if I had just stuck with melee.

Fair enough if you bought the game and felt ripped off, but three titles is hardly milking a franchise for money is it?

I think the only thing that let me down about that game was the fact that online battles were piss-poor because of the lag. Now I know online fighting is hard to do, but they made no attempt to fix it.

My point is its not nintendo's descision to say, "You know what? We need more Megaman in this game." Solid snake and sonic was only used because Kojima and Sega allowed nintendo to use them for the crossover.

Incedentally the nintendo quote can be applied to almost any game.
