Console: Desktop PC
Reason 1: I already have one that remains upgradeable for far cheaper than buying a new console
Reason 2: I like strategy games which are under-represented on console
Reason 3: As a platform it is less commercialised and has less privacy concerns (once adblocks are enabled anyway)
Reason 4: Games are cheaper (albeit unable to resell, but that doesn't matter to me personally because I keep all my games)
Reason 5: It's a better multimedia machine than consoles and I can use it for all computer tasks without having to buy multiple devices
Nice post! But next gen consoles make your last reason obsolete. Especially xbox one. It's called xbox all in one for a reason. You can also watch youtube, browse Facebook, twitter and stuff on ps4 too
Yeah, but PC still remains a little more flexible in terms of having a proper browser, keyboard, etc. I have no problem with consoles, but I can't envisage myself doing all my day-to-day internet activity on one, not to mention writing, work, media storage, etc.
In certain respects (sharing video for example) they'll almost certainly be better than PC, but not across the board.
I did actually think seriously about getting a console before I got the PC, but since my laptop had died I'd have ended up buying a console, and then a computer as well for work and so on (which would have cost the same if not more than building my gaming PC). And I'd have had all kinds of headaches trying to get my beloved RTS games to run on a cheap laptop or desktop!
But I don't pass judgement on anyone who has a console (I do think that Microsoft properly ballsed up some of the Xbox One policies, but that's a different story entirely). It's just that my circumstances basically meant that a gaming PC was the only decent choice.
