Does this count?

Power Supply - Corsair TX750 V2 750W
Processor - AMD FX 6300 3.5GHz 6 Core
Processor Cooler - Xigmatek Loki
RAM - 8GB Corsair DDR3 XMS3 1600MHz/PC12800
Motherboard - ASUS M5A97 R2.0
Graphics card - AMD/ATI Radeon HD 7950 3GB
Hard Drive - Seagate Barracuda 1TB Hard Drive 7200rpm 32MB Cache
Sound card - Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio
Optical Drive - Asus DRW-24B5ST 24x DVD/CD ± Re-Writer Black
Network card - Integrated 10/100/1000Mbps
Wireless Card - Asus N10 150MBPS

Console: 6 core gaming PC
Reason 1: It can outperform any console
Reason 2: Keyboard and Mouse > Everything Else. Oh, unless I want a controller, in which case a wireless XBOX controller will be used.
Reason 3: I can keep it upgraded to make sure it stays ahead of any console
Reason 4: I can use it for photo and film editting.
Reason 5: Mods. All the mods.
Reason 6: Steam/Origin for all my gaming needs (However much I hate origin, there are exclusives to be chased down and wrestled to the floor.
Reason 7: It frees up my laptop for Uni work, increasing my laptops lifespan significantly.
Reason 8: Rome Total War 2. Empire Total War, modded to hell and back again. Skyrim modded to hell and back again. Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai. Battlefield (Insert number here, I have not played one since 1942 but since I will finally have a good enough computer and pretty fucking stunning internet connectivity I thought I might as well.)

Sure, that PC is going to put me back more money then I have ever spent at once in my life. Yet it will last, can be upgraded, has a few extra case fans and the like to keep it nice and cold and I can maintain it. Oh, and a 5 year warranty.

As for actual thoughts on Next gen console? Meh. Living in a house with 4 gamers. Two 360's and a PS3 are going to be in the house from day one, along with a HD projector. Following christmas I am pretty sure there will be an XBONE and PS4. Alongside all but one of the others in the house having a solid gaming PC.

Shared House Win.

EDIT:

Lots of people saying PC. If you lot have Rome Total War 2, give me a bell around the 22nd of this month so we can tear shit up. Technically, I will have it on the third, but I am on incredibly shit internet right now and using the laptop which I am replacing with the above monster.

None until I see something I want enough to spend over $500 on, most likely. Xbone is still the lowest on the list till they prove the Kinnect (that can't be bought as an extra) actually lives up to all future of gaming hype they keep bringing up as their piss weak defense.

Console: Wii U
Reason 1: Pikmin 3
Reason 2: Nintendo consistently make games that end up being my favourites.
Reason 3: It's cheap.
Reason 4: I like to sit in a chair and relax to play games so I hate Kinnect. Also, I don't want to talk out loud to my console.
Reason 5: I might consider a PS4 but I'll probably buy a PS3 first.

I've got a Wii U:
- Guaranteed quality game library.
- Interesting gameplay possibilities brought about by the Wii U gamepad.
- Nintendo recognises the full colour spectrum, and the need for a variety of gameplay styles across their franchises.
- I'll be able to play local multiplayer.
- Nintendo doesn't charge me anything after the initial transaction.

And I'll be getting a PS4 once the library expands enough to justify the purchase.

ConsolePC: YES

Reason 1: Its a true multifunctional machine, as in I'll be able to connect my 3D printer to it and start making Adeptus Astartes Armour with a 3D modelling program.
Reason 2: Cheap games, lots of cheap games.
Reason 3: Longevity, parts may wear out, but the PC will live on.
Reason 4: Backwards compatibility, I still boot up Unreal Tournament from time to time.
Reason 5: M&KB, I like using my fingers to play videogames.

But since this is a thread created by a One-Eighty apologist, I'll have to go with a PS4 if I couldn't choose a PC

Console: PS4
Reason 1: Its cheaper by a significant margin compared to its closest competitor
Reason 2: PS+ is largely for multiplayer and getting free games, rather than a paywall between everything
Reason 3: Actively courting Indies, the amount of Kickstarters that include the phrase 'PS4 and Vita' is more common then you would think. (Heck I've seen the WiiU mentioned more than MS)
Reason 4: Has optional accessories.
Reason 5: Built with gaming in mind and isn't hampered buy attempts to make it a 'all in one' device I neither want or need.

And just to hammer it home: Reasons NOT to get an One-Eighty

Reason 1: Microsoft showing its hand and attempting to shove some of the worst DRM down our throats with little justification nor any incentive for us to use it.
Reason 2: Microsoft are run by incompetent morons. See: Adam Orth, Don Mattrick.
Reason 3: Microsoft repeated attempts at 'following the leader' and abandoning its strong points to do so. See Windows 8 and 'the interface formally known as Metro.'
Reason 4: No room for Kinect.
Reason 5: Majority of Xbones TV functions will not work in New Zealand.
Reason 6: Even if they did, I would need to get a external decoder for them to work.
Reason 7: As I've said before, is there anything that doesn't require Gold to work?
Reason 8: Its more expensive than its closest competitor
Reason 9: If I wanted to be bombarded with ads, I would disable Adblock completely, not just on sites where its against TOS like the Escapist.
Reason 10: Not in one of the five countries that Kinect fully works, even though English is the main spoken language.

Apparently MS thinks Kinect can handle accents like this but not Kiwi or Australian accents

There, 5 reasons to buy a PS4 or PC and ten reasons not to get a Xbone, I could add more but I want to play the Starlight Inception beta again.

Bye!

Your third reason :/ uh isn't really backing up your argument. Like how dumb is this

Console: PS4
reason: fuck xbox
Reason: xbox sucks.

See? I say xbox sucks and don't give a reason why
I have to buy either a PS4 or Xbox One to play SOME of the newer games, and I am literally getting the PS4 because it's not the Xbox; that is the reason.

But if you would like reasons for that reason, I will be happy to elaborate:
Reason 1: The first thing they did when they announced their console was show how much it wasn't a game console, [small]because games are silly apparently[/small].
Reason 2: They then announced their plans to change the way game ownership works, which was all a fiendish way to make Gamestop the only game exchange retailer left (even cancelling out eBay, etc.)
Reason 3: After the backlash, they backpedaled and said they wouldn't do those things after all.
Reason 4: After that backpedal, they backpedaled again and said they will bring us "the Future", whether we like it or not.
Reason 5: I don't respond well to threats... and even if it wasn't a threat, trust is now a huge issue between me and them.
Reason 6: Not liking gritty realism or FPSs very much, I thought the 360 had the weakest lineup of exclusives last gen (yes, even more then the wii).

If you want the Xbox One, like the kinds of games the 360 had and you honestly don't care about Microsoft's policies or what they will implement one day, then go for it dude. That's up to you, but that is definitely not for a lot of us.
Well actually Microsoft got rid of all that DRM now! Woot!

ok i'll play

Console: Desktop PC
Reason 1: I already have one that remains upgradeable for far cheaper than buying a new console as stated by @OneCatch
Reason 2: I like a variety of type and old/new games. on console it seems to be FPS & 3rd person games predominently.
Reason 3: XBL and PSN look to me to be closed platforms with no competition. as consoles edge towards being all digital, this isnt good for the consumer
Reason 4: Games are a lot cheaper
Reason 5: It's customisable the way you want it.

i have a PS3 in the livingroom for Bluray and Netflix. if this dies, i'll probably buy another console

Pc guy hey? Well yeah, I see your point but a good pc costs a lot. Some can be more than an xbox + 5 years of xbox gold. I've tried pc gaming. I brought an $800 laptop but it runs batttlefeild at lowest settings at around 30 FPS :/
I bought a £700 custom-built gaming PC and it runs BF3 at 100fps, and has better hardware than the Xbone and PS4.

Xbox One, 2 controllers, a headset and 1 year of gold, is £550. Throw in 3 launch games and that's £700. PC have a phenomenal selection of Free to Play games, and most games are £30 on launch, not £40. To top that off you can find a copy of a game for less than £10/$20 in some random sale, somewhere on the internet, not too long after release. A deal you will never find on console for years.

I'll be sticking to PC because it's cheaper in the long term, but as an ex-360 fanboy I might pick up a PS4 in a year or 2, because MS fucked me over more than enough not to trust them.

Certainly my PC but I may get an Xbone as well. I haven't decided yet.

Reason 1: It's nice to play games on the big telly sometimes and I can't be arsed to connect my PC to it.
Reason 2: I've had problems with Microsoft and Sony in the past (it happens), Microsoft fixed it for free even though they didn't have to and Sony didn't even though it would have been less hassle.
Reason 3: Some of the non game features on the xbone did look kinda cool to me.

Console: Neither

1: I already have a gaming PC capable of running current games. I see no reason to spend additional funds on a completely redundant device.
2. There is no way I'll pay any additional fees to access online content

PS4

-Doesn't require a useless voice capture camera
-Has better exclusives (fuck Halo)
-Has a much better online subscription (Games for Gold so far has proved to be shit)
-Already paying for PS Plus
-I'd rather give my money to Sony than Microsoft because of Microsoft's previous bullshit with indie devs

y'know Titanfall's only a timed exclusive, right?

I already have a kick-ass gaming PC; but if $700 or so fell into my hand, it would as follows:

Console: PS4
Reason 1: Cheaper outlay
Reason 2: There was no DRM on the outset
Reason 3: I like the launch line up better
Reason 4: Better balance of free/paid service features
Reason 5: Not loaded down with extraneous shit that will not work in my country

PC

R1:I don't mind paying $1000 for something that can do almost everything.
R2:I already got a shit ton of Steam games that aren't going to disappear because I buy a new PC or when Steam updates.
R3:I don't have to pay extra to play online.
R4:I don't have to wait in a lineup for 12 hours just to get a new one ASAP.
R5:I didn't play my consoles that much last generation.

And yes, Xbox One can also do cable and stuff, but I don't use cable, and I don't want to pay extra for Microsoft to be my DVR.

Answer in this format

Console:
Reason 1:
Reason 2:
Reason 3:
Reason 4:
Reason 5:

Example:

Console:Xbox one
Reason 1: I don't mind paying extra since it comes with a kinect which makes up for the price.
Reason 2: It has a better controller in my opinion
Reason 3: It comes with kinect which is much more advanced than the PS eye
Reason 4:It has better online multiplayer (interface)
Reason 5:it has titanfall
Before I answer this myself, I'd like to address your reasons.
Reason 1: Yes if you want a Kinect for some reason, that's fair
Reason 2: I've not used either the PS4 or Xbone controllers yet, so I'm not qualified to answer this one
Reason 3: Technically you may be right, but for a game controller, it simply doesn't work as well as Move or Wiimote Plus. I've never seen it made to operate properly in anything other than a dance game, or similar.
Reason 4: Possibly true, although the new PS4 interface looks good also
Reason 5: So does the PC, and yes I'm interested in that game, possibly

For myself

Console: PC Gaming Master Race (for now)
Reason 1: I already have a machine more than comparable to the next gen consoles, and I'll be upgrading it soon
Reason 2: I prefer keyboard and mouse for most games, butI can use any type of controller which a console can, as well as many more
Reason 3: Games are cheaper, and most major releases will come to PC, as well as a huge range of indie titles
Reason 4: It has free online multiplayer
Reason 5: It has Titanfall :)

Having said that, I'll probably pick up a PS4 in a year or so after the price drops for Sony exclusives like Gran Turismo.

Because its funny to see the 'I've already have a PC' or 'PS4 for me' piling up the thread.

And you have to admit, trying to get widespread ground-root support for something like the One-Eighty and being dogpiled repeatedly must be a little disheartening for the OP.

I don't see the big deal over this. PS+ is such a good deal anyway, that I don't see a problem. It also allows people who can't afford a lot of games, to get free ones on a regular basis. If paying to play online translates to better run servers, then its a plus IMO. $50/year is only $4.17/month.

I also doubt their reasoning is solely "MS screwed their customers, so should we..."
Also, Sony isn't forcing you into PS+ to stream your content either. MS probably still does.
America is not only the richest country, everywhere else is also almost always charged an additional sum for not being America. The PS4 will cost well over $500 in the UK because they tear up the exchange rates and just appropriate which ever rounding they feel like.

Little easier for you to dump the money with no worries. The low-low price of $4.17 is basically a fantasy to me, not that I'd be that pleased with it anyway. However good the "deals" are, they're there to keep you going the whole 9 yards; and the subscription model is supposed to recoup an extra sum of almost the full price of the console over the course of the generation.

For you it'll be something like another $350-400, depending on how long the generation holds up; so $750 in total. For me it'd probably be over $1,000. So how much play do you have to get out of it before all that becomes worthwile? what with the price of next gen games going up too.

I don't have time for mass gaming, and I only buy a few select games that I really want. If I can just get the base console and 1 or 2 dozen games over the gen that I really want to play, then that suits me.

I think I could live without multiplayer, even though there maybe some exciting multiplayer games that come out. Competitive multiplayer usually starts out a mixture of fun and frustration (from the learning process and then the resistance from competition) before degrading into shit. If significant passive online features are locked out too, then that will be the real grievance with me.

And really why should that be locked out? Sony did online for over 8 years. If people want top pay for better servers (along with bonuses on games etc) then have a tiered distinction for server priority or something.

I suppose the 'big deal' would be:

Some people can't blindly chuck loose that kind of money with an apathetic "meh".

(I made this clear enough in the initial post; did you just stop read and hit 'reply' at that paragraph?)
