I was watching the Jimquisition, the episode "Guns Blazing," and i wonder what niche maybe coming out in the future.

The only niche i have that developers ignore like the plague is TBSJRPGs. With the only one i will be getting in the future being Disgaea D2 A Brighter Darkness. I would get fire emblem for the 3ds but until i can find more games that appeal to me, the contents of my wallet and Nintendo will be kept separated.

So what niche games will people be getting in the future be it horror, adventure, or ect?

Also, what is your favorite episode of the Jimquision?

SMT IV, Dragon's Crown, Time and Eternity, Tales of Xillia (if that counts)....I kind of live in the niche.

Yeah all these basically. Add in Soul Hackers and Etrian Odyssey IV when they get a EU release.

EDF 2025 is the only one I can think of off hand.

It's funny how the definition of niche has seemed to change over the years.
I remember once it meant games that were really truly odd, or bizarre, like Incredible Crisis and Ore-no Ryouri.
Now it's anything that isn't a AAA game I guess?

Just to clarify as clear as I can, that was not written as "You plebs don't know what niche is. These games were niche, and were good. Better than any crap nowadays."

You should try Fire Emblem Awakening when you get the chance. Its well worth the price and (even if it's not necessary for the main game) if you can spare a little bit more the DLC is actually a great compliment, too - extra classes, characters from previous FE games, skills, gold/exp farming maps, challenge maps and all that good stuff.

Back on topic; SMT IV, Tales of Xillia, Atelier Totori and Rain(if that counts).
As for Jimquisition, it's a tie between The Creepy Cull of Female Protagonists and Emotions, Polygons and Ellen Page.

I'm a huge lover of horror, so Outlast will be on my list of things to buy.

It's been a while since I played a game that has scared the shit out of me, and I think it's about time.

Same. I love me some Trackmania. It's so addictive.

(as is Nadeos other title, Shootmania)

Other than that, the only "niche" game I can think of that I'm picking up and is coming soon (I hope) is Starbound.

A title I'm hoping is as addictive, complex, and fun as it seems. I loved Terraria, so here's hoping it's 'heir apparent' only improves on that formula.

I'll be picking up Tearaway, and that's (to my knowledge) the only papercraft game ever made! It looks darn fun, too.

Stub My Toes IV and Ettin Dog Farming 2025? That is truly niche indeed, bravo.

Although the most cursory google usage would define these acronyms, it just seems basic to define acronyms before using them for the sake of the reader, particularly in a thead like this.

If by niche you mean games that have a smaller audience for it's genre/style/release platform, then I would pick the following.

Of course I have to admit that I probably won't be playing anything off this list for a while. Developing my first game keeps me way too busy, and currently way too poor, to be getting and playing any games for now.

Mechknight Chronicles - I got to meet the developers at PAX East this year when I also went to demo my company's first game. They were really cool guys, and I got to talk at length with them about their game. It plays really solid, and has an awesome, very clear and readable, art style. Seriously, check this game out.

Shovel Knight - This game looks simply amazing, and so well designed from what I saw. I definitely want to get my hands on this.

Dragon's Crown - Can't tell I like brawlers yet? This brings back memories of the D&D arcade games by Capcom. This is a sure fire sell for me.

Ducktales Remastered - Yes, yes, and YES. I don't think I even need to explain why.

Shantae 3 - The first one was good, second one was great even if short. I have high hopes for this third installment. I really wish they would release a PC version though. They at least tried on Steam, but somehow it never got voted for enough? Sad.

That is all I can think of off the top of my head.

Come next month, I'll likely be buying Shuffle and ef~The First Tale. Possibly Otoboku, if it's actually available in English.

Well if it counts I will buy the next Rune Factory and the next Harvest Moon games. I've made it my mission to buy every single one of those games, so far I'm only missing 2. I really hope more come out soon, I love those games so much.
