So you're saying that we should just let faulty logic slide? Sorry not going to happen, at least for me. If you're going to make an argument, at least make sure it's a proper argument.
No I'm saying you should argue the actual fucking point instead of the possibilities, limits and birth date of Mark, the pizza boy, who was featured in the analogy as a trigger for a greater meaning.

The analogy is a weak link and everyone seems insistent of arguing that instead of the matter at hand. Nothing ever progresses and you're trapped in an argument that has no importance or relevance.

Various adventures, mostly random social moments, but stories and events make me yawn, too. There's a time and place for a story that I'll be intent to listen to, but while I'm studying or in a game is not the time to call me about "yo my nite wuz so sik bro!1!".

It may be my natural introvert hidden-social-jealousy kicking in but the stories are just uninteresting to me.

'I'm right because [tradition/nature/history] is on my side!' No it isn't, it's just a collection of shit happening at random.
....did you just suggest History and Traditions are random occurrence?

I'll agree with you that nature in random but with the others you can easily see a progression of events. Hell that's what history is; the story of how everything is linked.
I meant that it doesn't have some inherent value that makes everything you can link to it somehow better than that which goes against the trend of history or tradition. I'm sure there's a reason for everything in history, but equally sure that that reason isn't 'because it was inevitable' or 'because it was the right thing' or whatever.

Anything to do with sports. I sometimes talk with people about working out and keeping up shape (jogging, going to the gym etc.) but as soon as someone mentions hockey, football or almost anything like that I just shut down. I've never found sports interesting to follow, and sometimes find the fan culture a bit creepy and icky. Also I cannot for the life of me understand why some people debate over whether team X is going to beat team Y.

"As a Christian.."
"As a mother.."
"As a *insert any other thing here*..."

Just annoying and I wish people would stop. That and "No offense but.." usually followed by something extremely insulting.

Most talk of people's children.

I'm not a fan of kids. I don't have the first thing against people who are, and by all means, if you have children, PLEASE keep right on living for them. That's the way it should be.

But I've noticed this a lot. Especially in younger parents. They bring up the subject. I politely express my disinterest in the subject. They immediately start going on and on about their children. They show you pictures. They tell you all the funniest and cutest stories about their children.

I'm not the kind of guy to be a jerk and state, "Listen, I honestly have less than no interest in this topic and frankly I don't care a bit about your kids." But this is one of the things that makes me want to be that guy.

"No, you're not the only one".

I just lose all interest in anything the person has to say when they answer that. OF COURSE THEY AREN'T THE ONLY ONE. IT'S AN EXPRESSION TO EXPLAIN THE FEELING OF BEING ALONE IN A CERTAIN MINDSET. Get the fuck over yourself, you aren't being clever or funny by using it, you're just being a big douche. People should get infracted for using that phrase. It contributes ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to any conversation.

"I'm not a racist, but..."

Nothing ever good ever comes after that statement.

"As a mother, soldier, random asshole...etc"

Yeah that is nice, unless the conversation is specifically about something you have dealt with as being one of those things then it doesn't apply.
Both of these, definitely. Especially the "I'm not a racist..." one.

If you have to preface what you are about to say with that phrase, you probably are a racist. Worse, you know you are, and yet you still spout your blatant biases as though they were the truth.

As I like to say: Everyone has biases, its how you deal with them that counts.

"No offense, but *insert offensive sentence here*"

Seriously, it annoys me to no end!

I also agree on the whole "As a *insert profession here*" Thing...

It's just your opinion, no need to state such a thing.
Wait , added your profession SHOULD make their opinion more valid , assuming that the topic is somethinf related to said profession . I mean i rather have medical advice from a doctor than a carpenter ....

No offence, bit you're a fucking retard. I mostly agree on everything you've said here, but "As a..." can sometimes actually carry some merit though it's rare. There are lots of science related subjects here that a physicist, chemist or biologist profession would actually carry some weight. For the most part though it's just pretentious.

If I even see the word
sexism, feminism or the like
I wont bother to read anything more in the thread. I don't feel like discussing it and getting pulled into it because I might have said something that one of those who feel strongly for either side interprets to me having strong feelings on the matter.
I probably should have said *insert political/religious/ moral opinion here* But when writing, I was tired and couldn't find the words.

I know doctors know medical things (Obviously) but when someone goes "as a christian" I just think "why does you being a christian matter?"
And there we went from almost complete agreement to complete agreement. Religious or moral belief is not a necessary detail to mention.

Any time sex or personal lives are brought up, it is the bottom of the barrel conversation topic and is never interesting. It is even worse if they are talking about a person you do not know and expect you to have input into the conversation.

Also "I drank an entire bottle of vodka last night, was so drunk!"

The random shit people put on Facebook and Twitter annoy me to no end. +10 to annoyance if they "tolk lik dis rite ere" or put a <3 at the end of a mundane sentence eg "Hot Chocolate <3" FUCK YOU!

Dude..."I'm not racist, but" HAS legitimate applications.
I'm not racist, for instance, but sometimes you just have to comment on stuff like black people and their mysterious love of fried chicken.
It's not mysterious at all, fried chicken is delicious. (For the sake of context, I feel that I should point out that I'm a white guy.)

Because having religious faith usually means there are a set of values that you try to live up to. Such as "As a Christian I find it extremely important to give to the poor", this person here is putting emphasis on how their faith encourages them to act in a certain way.

Or "As a muslim I find it very difficult to socialise as people always go out to bars", this person here is refering to how the Islamic rejection of Alcohol (that is worded very poorly) means that their social life suffers.
