What Pokemon would you have?

This has been a very Pokecentric morning hasn't it? Let;s continue it. Imagine you're living in the Pokemon world, what Pokemon would you have for battling? Would you have other ones as pets?
Also to keep this interesting, NO LEGENDARIES. Yea I said it, I know there's about 90 of the bloody things now, but let's keep this Pokemon the rabble can get.
So let's pick 6 for each, battling and as pets.
