I was wondering what popular games my fellow escapists don't like? For example I don't really like the Assassins creed series, I didn't mind the first one but after that there was just something about them I didn't enjoy (My Brother loves them though). I also don't really like The Elder Scrolls Series and am not looking forward to Skyrim. Just to make clear I do like some popular games, like Mass Effect or Batman AA, and Borderlands are all some of my favourites.

So what popular games do you not like?

Most of them. Mass effect 2 was nice though, besides that, Baldur's Gate, the other games I like are hardly considered "popular". I'm not saying this in some hipster-ish kinda way, I just don't enjoy them.

dont like assassins creed 2 it looks murky and very brown and i dont like mass effect 2 because it wasnt enough like the first one and didnt have enough rpg elements plus i hated how they replaced the mako sections with planet scanning i loved how badly the mako handled it led to fun times

I don't really like Borderlands, it plays like an MMO with no MM. Just felt like a grind to me.
I also have never really got the big appeal with COD. To me it's just a very shiny CS clone, with less balance.

Final Fantasy. Any of them. They and their spawn can go jump in a well. On fire.

Mass effect 1. It felt very generic. Then again, I have watched alot of star trek the next generation in my life so that might be it, but the shooting and vehicle sections weren't fun and the dialogue felt forced. Compared to the free and open source space flight sim vega strike it feels... shallow. Not getting 2 or 3.

Fallout 3. Repetitive combat and enemies that cheat, random land mines, and super mutants that constantly cripple my legs or head and I can't fucking find any of the SO MANY stimpaks everyone else is apparently finding so the game is unfairly hard even on easy, the combat is extremely repetitive, and the ending pisses me off. I worked that hard on my character and grinding through the story only to get a shitty picture montage with a narration? What the fuck? I just wanted water that doesn't make me glow when I drink it so I could fight longer and don't have to constantly go back to my safe houses to sleep off my head injuries.

Oblivion and FO3. Bethesda is one of the single most overrated hack developers out there. At least they made one really, REALLY good game, but it's a shame they are tarnishing a good legacy with a bunch of broken, barely functional, overhyped shit.

Most modern Bioware games. Yet another developer tarnishing an otherwise good legacy. They haven't made a true classic since KotOR. Everything else since then has either been mediocre and forgettable (DA: O comes to mind), or downright offensive. They're a lot like Bethesda in the sense that they only reason they continue to exist is because their fanbase is so blind that they'll willingly buy and worship anything they excrete, regardless of quality. Overrated as hell.

"Realistic" modern war shooters. I'm not a very twitchy sort of person, so whenever I try to play war shooters, I usually end up hiding behind cover with a silenced weapon picking off enemies from afar. It just ends up being no fun since I'm a bad.

Most fighting games. I've tried to get into them, but I never can. Perhaps its because I'm not too into competitive play, and would rather play with other people than against them.

World of Warcraft - haven't actually played it but I don't like spending $15 each month for a single game, I prefer to keep actual game purchases themselves under $15.

Diablo II - gives me major hand cramps, and isn't really that good to begin with.

I don't really like any modern themed shooter, Battlefield and Call of Duty. Just don't tickle my fancy.

First Person RPG and Bland shooter 59
I find the combat in First person role playing games kicks me right out of enjoying the story, and I find that all of the COD games completely unengaging
I guess it's because I was raised on Kotor NWN daggerfall, bf1942 and the like

Assassins' Creed, rerelease after rerelease after rerelease. . .
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, worst game in the history of video games /undisputed
Oblivion, I really, really tried to get into it, 6-7 times. . . I just can't
Mass Effect, good games, I just stopped playing 2 after a while
Halo, I liked 1 and 2, but once it hit the 360 it's like it caught some sort of virus
Gears of War, samey, dull, eh; almost beat either of them but just couldn't force myself to finish them
Dragon Age: Origins, I also tried really hard to get into this game, but lost interest swiftly each time
