What real life applications have you learned from games?

I can't really go into detail without going against confidentiality, but I once used a line from Dragon Age Origins to talk someone down from violent hysterics.

gained better ability to work as a team from various co-op games.
Flexed the brain in Portal and Braid
and greatly improved my skills in english and some other languages
