Sonic '06, if only because it can ONLY get better.
...Come on! It WANTS to be a good game! Getting remade is its chance! It could ACTUALLY be playable then!

Well, I'm going to go back farther than anyone else and say the Ultima series of games. And I mean the ENTIRE SAGA, from beginning to end.

I was born too late for the better Ultima games. I knew nothing about the series until Spoony's retrospective, and the series seems fascinating. A grand adventure, fighting evil forces, becoming the Avatar of Virtue, working to uphold those virtues from evil forces, I mean, MY GOD I wanted to experience this!

When GOG released Ultima 4 (the one many consider the best in the series) for free, I installed it as fast as I could. And when I booted it up?I just couldn't get into it. I had to have a printout of the controls in front of me and always needed to refer back to it. And as much as I hate to seem like a graphics snob, it is showing its age horribly. The graphics, sound, UI, and inventory management might have been fine in the mid-80's, but trying to use them after modern gaming?s much improved UI styles is like running into a brick wall. This series needs an update.

And that?s not without getting into Ultima 9, which is commonly attributed to be one of the worst games EVER. A remake could provide the chance to fix it and set things right for so many people burned by it.

Most of the other games listed in this thread are still pretty playable. Deus Ex, for example, might look terrible and feel slightly dated, but it?s still perfectly playable and immersive. After a while, I tended to forget about the shoddy graphics and animations because I was so immersed in what was happening. With Ultima, I simply couldn?t get out of the starting gate before losing all interest, no matter how many times I said, "This time I'll stick to it and beat this thing!"

And I want to play it. I want to experience this epic story, because that?s what seemed the most interesting to me. The world and the story, more than the gameplay.

I know that a AAA-level remake of the thing is impossible. That?s fine. Why not episodic releases on an indie budget, with a style similar to Baldur?s Gate or Dragon Age or something new? Heck, I'd accept a high-level mod for an existing game like Skyrim, or even Oblivion. Perhaps a total conversion to remake everything the way Nehrim did? As long as the game is updated for today, and stays faithful to the original series, that's what I would want.

Anything that is hard to find or play on modern systems.

Dungeon Keeper. And Dungeon Keeper some more. I still play from time to time using a fan made version with my disc copy, and the GoG version (last time I checked) was a DOS version or something.

Fun, and fairly unique. Also, Stubbs the Zombie. I never got to play it, and always wanted to.

I'd like to see Adventure Island New Super Mario-ified. Maybe not a true remake but a re-visitation/ full on revival of the series could be really interesting. Then again, someone like Master Higgins (who has to eat) may be frowned upon in a day and age that demonizes excessive eating...but hey, we have Double Dragon Neon! Why not Return to Adventure Island!?

Zelda 2: Link's Adventure. Keep the overworld, keep the 2-D dungeons and, fighting scenes. Just update the graphics and add in some cool visual effects when using spells.

Final Fantasy XII. I want this re-make to be literal...the location and characters can stay and I don't have a problem with the plot but instead of that battle system can it be swapped out for The Junction System or, random battles from FFX or earlier?

Hmmm... Definitely Tales of Symphonia. I loved that game, it's still one of my favorites. They already did Tales of the Abyss for the 3DS so doing Symphonia on there too would be pretty cool. Plus those shiny angel wings would look awesome in 3D.

If not that than a remake of Baten Kaitos: Origins. It was another really awesome GameCube RPG that deserves more recognition.

If, and only if it can be done right, Final Fantasy VI.
I've always wanted to see a remake of FFVI that makes a new World of Ruin. By that point in the game the story is stagnant, it's all about finding and re-uniting your allies in an open world and getting strong enough to challenge Kefka. The ending was also kind of lackluster, maybe they could do something there. Perhaps a 'new game+' that lets you play through up to a certain persons death, at which point you can change fate and beat Kefka before he blows up the world.

Normally you don't do this sort of thing when making a remake, but I think FFVI is one of the few games that it would work for. In particular the problem I have is I've played through it several times and no where everything and everyone is already, so if I play the game again I want to have a fresh experience for the second half.

Rise of Nations
Do you mean the old RTS game then FUCK YEAH I totally agree, I fucking loved that game, Rise of Legends was alright but I fucking loved Rise of Nations.

Also, KOTOR 2, an HD remake of KOTOR 2 with all the cut content added in would be so fucking awesome!!!!!

I've said it a thousand times, I'll say it a thousand more:

Bomberman 64 HD Collection. Bomberman 64, Bomberman Hero and Bomberman 64 The Second Attack (I'll settle for just the last one if need be.)

Unfortunately, Hudson has gone under, so this will likely never happen...
The lack of long term platforming franchise success with the bomberman series that Mario, Donkey Kong, Sonic, and Mega Man enjoyed baffles me to this day.

Bomberman Hero remains as one of my most nostalgic games.

As far as re-skins go, lots of retro games. Anything pre 2008 or so.

New games? Nothing. Maybe I'm just bitter from it, but I just played the new Need for Speed Most Wanted that was made by Criterion, and I am very pissed. That was the biggest pile of shit I've ever played with the Need for Speed title stamped on it. It was like The Sims with cars. Terrible game, my worst game of 2012, and VERY disappointed because I absolutely loved the original Most Wanted, one of my favourite games of all time.

Dungeon Keeper 2
Kalypso did try to bring something similar but failed too much to bring what people wanted.Apparently they made a sequel too.
Heres hopping that EA will get extremely money hungry and revive the franchise. And people said EA was a bad developer,if money-snatching EA bring me Dungeon keeper 3 i will apologize of the all bad things that i said about EA all these years

*The original Deus Ex could probably use one. I've always been able to bear the graphics, but if it could get more people willing to play a classic like Deus Ex, I'm all in.

*Clock Tower (the PSX one, not the SNES one) is the one game I could actually see translating really well onto the Wii. There are so many scenes in that that could be so much cooler with modern lighting and visuals (especially the scene in the computer lab where Scissorman starts walking and all of the computers turn on in conjunction with his movements)

*System Shock 1 really needs one. I've been able to get through both SS1 and SS2 without too many graphical complaints, but System Shock 1 would be really cool in HD. So would SS2, but all I want is for them to officially re-release it...

Final Fantasy 7/8 in 13 graphics but everything else is same (Even text speech, because fuck FF voice acting so far), Metal Gear Solid 1 in MGS4 graphics. Deus Ex. Silent Hill 1/2 in Downpour graphics. That is all.

ok I'll probably get some stick for this, but I would pay 200USD hands down for a well-made true remake of Final Fantasy 8 (no I didn't accidently type 8 instead of 7).

remake the games that were *awful*, there's no where to go but up. Its almost guaranteed to be better. Remaking a good game usually (not always) leads to disappointment, overhype, failure.

Resident Evil 2 & 3, Final Fantasy's I-VIII, Soul Reaver, Tales of Symphonia & Abyss, Persona 1 & 2, Vampire: The Masquerade, hell I could go on and on I'd love for all my favorite games to get makeovers with better graphics and voice acting.

Too bad Resident Evil and MGS: The Twin Snakes for the Gamecube are the only 2 that I can think of that were successful.

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger
Banjo-Kazooie
Spyro the Dragon (I do like the newer versions, but I prefer the older versions best. I miss the simple happy fun in platformers)
