A local high school was putting on a production of The Laramie Project. A bunch of Southern Baptist assholes from two states away came to protest. (Apparently God doesn't like when you point out when a gay kid gets murdered.) So the students and their parents put up a massive counter protest that completely dwarfed the baptists. It was pretty sweet.

There is a lot of good out there and a brighter side and greater wisdom to everything; it's just harder to see because we focus too much on what is bad and overlook all that is good. Rule #32 from zombieland: enjoy the little things; because it's the little things that make all the difference.

*nod* I'm sincerely glad to have helped you have a better day. Some may consider it sappy, but I think that's what the world should really be about.

Many thanks to the OP. Bringing about goodness in the world is a valued and spiff thing.
You're welcome, i think i'm getting a kind of happiness chain going :D

Thanks everyone!

The knowladge that somewhere, someone is helping someone else who is down on thier luck. That alone is what those who are the best of humanity should aspire to do, help those who are broken.

After working in a myriad of different fields (mostly involving some form of customer service & retail) over the last 20 years, and observing a diverse cross-section of humanity, I can honestly say ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

And I'm ok with that.

While I sadly slip into bouts of asexuality (no, really, I literally lose all desire for sex completely during these periods), they are still awesome enough to restore some of my faith.

As for me, it's actually reminding myself of the measure of an individual, due to my belief in the cascade ripple effect of a single action, which ties in nicely with the whole probability odds of a single person resulting in any given pregnancy. Basically, it reminds me that my every action effected humanity, and that said actions will invisibly continue to affect the future (the whole effect is too long to explain, but basically it operates that everything you do impacts you fellow man, and that said action continues on as either a memory, a feeling, a resulting action, or otherwise which changes the people directly involved, which changes their actions that leads to a whole ripple effect throughout the worldwide social groups that interact together. Hell, this very post could end up changing the way a world leader thinks about something, be it because the thought process of someone was changed, it's length made someone ignore another post that could have changed their thoughts, or it eventually caused someone to be late or some such thing which emotionally changed everyone expecting them, or made them run into something along their way they wouldn't have before). Given that I have a more favorable view on myself than I do humanity at most times, this thought that I'm overriding them fills me with content.

Otherwise, it's just talking to friends, whom restore my faith in humanity through individuals.

Not only did that video help my shitty day out too, but the response here nicely illustrates that indeed the cascade ripple works. Thank you for being a part of it.

Most hopeful thing ever.
It brought a tear to my eye, watching it to the end.

OT: After reading zehydra's post, I agree. The Escapist is probably the best community a gamer's ever known. Full of people who will openly debate about serious video game issues, support their opinions with actual facts, and discuss the best ways to survive the zombie apocalypse. The Escapist is the best gaming community I've ever known.

I've never lost my faith in it so theres no need to restore it. Of anything humanity has been going uphill compared to the past. Everyone seems to talk about how humanity is on a downward slope into an increasing shit storm but does anyone really look back to something like the medeival times and think that was better?

Think about all that has improved in the past couple hundred years like equality or a decrease in overall violence or wars. I mean Europe used to be a constant battleground between different nations and slavery was an everyday fact.

Oh, and could people please stop posting things like "I can't have faith in humanity after the things I' seen" like they're some kind of Vietnam vet because being a complete cynic doesn't make you interesting.
