Many people in the world have opinions on videogames. Whose do you trust when deciding a purchase?

I personally prefer IGN, GameInformer, XPlay, and when all else fails Metacritic.

I prefer friends and/or Yahtzee. My friends usually like the same thing and Yahtzee reviews games really well.

Demos. I only trust my own judgements fully. Although i do actually take some pointers from Yahtzee, if someone that hateful says something is good then i'll give it a serious look.

Demos and friends. I don't like what my friends like, but from the reasons they give I can usually work out what's actually going on regardless of their actual opinion, when they praise graphics i know they have nothing better to say :)

IGN reviews became extremely low quality as of late. I prefer actiontrip.com

Metacritic mostly. You honestly CANNOT put all your trust into ONE reviewer. Especially considering most reviews these days tend to be someone's opinion, and an opinion is not what I'm after. I'm after a review!

So yeah, Metacritic because they round them all up.

COME ON. You're asking this on the Escapist? You know, that site where Yahtzee hosts his reviews.

Google. "[Insert game title here] + reviews." I usually click the first three or four pages, and that gives me an accurate enough selection.

I watch Zero Punctuation, but not for the "review" part of the... well, review.

Sort of screwed either way. Yahtzee really only reviews good games, then slams them, so it's not all that for a review really is it?

I myself simply play demos. I do have a few impulse buys that have served me well though, such as Mass Effect, Fallout 3 and Orange Box

He's reviewed a few bad games. My main issue with Yahtzee is that if you're going on his word alone, it's almost impossible to tell the difference between a game he doesn't like and a genuinely bad game.

IGN and me. If I think a game looks awesome, I will buy it unless it gets like a 5 on IGN.

ign, gamespot, and zero-punctuation

I never rely on one entirely. Always a mix (for eliminating outliers). I also watch 'critic averages' to make sure one isn't completely bonkers (like what IGN did with Overlord 2 and Blazblue)
