Well, to answer this question, I must explain how I feel about my real life beliefs in the chain of command, and how I feel about weapon loadouts in games.
In real life, I would never want to be anything over a sergeant in the army. I want to be close to the men I serve with, one of the dogs, but the alpha dog of the grunts. Because of this, I am often called upon to be the trainer or 'drill sarge' for new recruits in our clans and the such.
In video games, I believe mastery in the most simple, standard weapons as being the most proving way to go. In Halo, I exclusively use the Battle Rifle. In MW2, I exclusively either use the SPAS or FAMAS. Being able to topple over a guy bragging about his new, shiny, super death machine with the basic gun makes me so happy, and in my opinion, shows the most skill of a player.
Anyway, back to the main point, I'm usually the midrange firefight master, or assault master. No one can lead a siege like me, and if the range is right, no one can hold a line quite like me. I can snipe from across the map with my FAMAS, but if I get a sniper rifle, I can't hit shite. Damnedest thing...
So yeah. Give me a shotgun or an assault rifle. If I'm feeling saucy, pass my the heavy machine gun. If I'm feeling lulzy, give me a high calibur pistol. I'll make those work...but only from close to mid range. XD
