I'd be a lvl 10 Warcraft 3 Paladin. Can turn invincible, slay undead with spells and raise my dead buddies every couple of minutes or so.

Stealth class, with traps and a gauss rifle.
Thinking about it, a gauss rifle could be the ultimate silenced weapon; no muzzle flash, no sound, no case to clink, and just 1 moving part. Couple that with a subsonic round, and the only audible part of it will be it's target being hit.

Probably some kind of mage. We all know what they can be capable of at higher levels. Explosive fireballs, chain lighting, floods, massive walls of killer magic, and even creature summoning.

The strategy:

-Create a massive wall around myself and my colleagues
-Summon a Roc or other flying monster to capable of carrying a group of people
-Fly up and launch a fireballs upon the horde
-Put out the fire by causing thousands of gallons of water to fall upon the horde, flooding the area
-Launch lightning down upon the horde (assuming that the water is has enough electrolytes in it and can conduct electricity well) and kill the remaining zombies.
-????
-Survive!

People are forgetting that ALL mages begin the game very weak with no AOE spells, I mean sure... EVENTUALLY you will get insanely strong (You will still be a glass cannon but whatever) provided that you stay alive that long! >:D

I would be an Archer, excellent at long range killing and capable of setting up traps and knowledge of wildlife and shizzat. As well as often been awfully acrobatic and being able to conceal themselves well too... actually yeah, archers are the perfect class for the Zombie Apocalypse.
I disagree, sir. I mean come on, zombie apocalypse? This is what paladins fucking live for!

But who wants to be a paladin?
Paladins (like Clerics) would rely on "God" being real too and that brings up an entirely different discussion, zombies are what we are talking about here and without holy powers clerics and paladins cant do jack... more so the clerics than the paladins as paladins still have shields and maces and crap but anyway that still requires them to get up close which, in a zombie scenario, isnt wise.

And anyway yeah, Archer is still the best choice. Long range, acrobatic, skilled in survival, setting traps and hiding... easily best suited to survive a zombie apocalypse.

Come on now, you have to roleplay here. There are obviously deities in the D&D world. And I can't wait for you to have to buy new arrows.

Nobody said anything about D&D being the standard... its just RPGs.

And that is why archers are always skilled in a melee weapon... often daggers. That and arrows can be retrieved, its all a matter of hiding and waiting... and luring things into traps if need be.

A Black Mage. I'd probably be screwed if those zombies get too close, but at least I can set them on fire.

Druid ... all the healing spells (well sorta, at at later levels) of a cleric, but the added benefit of an animal companion, wildshape (for hand to hand pwnage), and best of all .... sun beam and sunburst.

Cleric of course, or Paladin, since they have disease immunity. Turn undead, cure disease, and a trusty mace. I'm all set.
