Grave of the Fireflies. It's a film about a brother and sister trying to survive in war-torn Japan.
Oh god, my heart sinks everytime I think about this movie.
One of the saddest things I've ever witnessed.

Need to shed a tear? Watch this movie.

I have never cried while watching a movie, playing a game, or anything of the sort. I would like to change that. In the last few years, I have watched most of what people called the saddest things, but I have yet to break down...

Granted, that is not to say that nothing has brought me close. Anohana nearly got me, as did certain paths in Katawa Shoujo. I was wondering if there would be anything truly heart rending enough to make a cynical ass from the internet like myself break down and blubber like a little baby.
I'm no pyschocollargist but many men just don't cry. Something to do with how we stomp those emotions out when we're young, usually to fit in with other dudes. Someday you'll probably cry, but I'm guessing it won't be because you played a certain video game or saw the right movie. Probably because your personality or something about your life changed, making you view things a bit differently.

The start of Up. My god that's sad.

I think the lamest thing I cried at was Will Smith killing his dog in I am Legend. I like dogs.

this probably won't be a common answer and it takes a LOT of commitment but i found One Piece to be brilliant at this. Don't get me wrong, overall the show is incredibly up-beat but when it wants to it can easily bring you to your knees. Although it takes like 300 episodes to get to the sadder moments so like i said, lots of commitment, plus its a phenomenal series :D

I cried at Les Miz. Just don't tell Bob that.

There is also Papo and YoYo, a criminally under looked game for the PS3 about the relations of a boy and his abusive father. THe boy loves his father, the father loves his son, but his father is an alcoholic.

Be warned: Camera angels and clipping are... interesting.

A few episodes of House; the one where Wilson's girlfriend is in the hospital, and the one where Kutner leaves the show. Literally nothing else fictional has made ever me cry.

These are two pretty cliche answers, but Green Mile and Titanic are two very sad films. People give Titanic a very hard time, but it's actually pretty heartbreaking if I'm honest. I hadn't seen it for years but watched it again recently and I don't think it deserves the negativity it gets.
not so much because of jack and rose but in the later half of the film I find it incredibly hard to watch...

can't guarantee anything because we would need to tap into some emotional roots of your past however never let me go is guaranteed to make anyone feel at least something http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1334260/

try not to read too much up on it or you might spoil it

Playing Half-life 2 to the end of episode 2 was the only thing that ever made me come close to crying. Absolutely brutal, but mostly because I wasn't expecting it...

Even though it is, for lack of a better term, torture porn, Elfen lied made me tear up. The manga, however, is the more tear-inducing than the anime.

Maybe not sad in a traditional sense but some scenes from Saving Private Ryan can be quite emotionaly disturbing. The landing at Omaha beach is quite ambivalent in the sense that it's quite sad but also incredibly nauseating and disturbing.

It's really American though and that can turn a lot of people off...

I'm a big crybaby when it comes to films and games. Seriously Ill cry when HAPPY shit is going down. Anyhoo just randomly off the cuff, the end of Babe when he says "That'll do pig, that'll do!"

Being less tongue in cheek Grave of the Fireflies was crushing. I watched it once and haven't been able to watch it again. Its been gathering dust on my shelf since.

I want a portable version of Katawa Shoujo. I also want a sequel! It will never happen though :(

I don't care if it is a from a female perspective! I just love the stories and they can do so much in Yamako Academy. If they somehow DO make a sequel: Just don't have those useless sex scenes unless they are in it for comedy sake. Like the Shed scene XD
Some dude made an Android port but it's impossible to find anymore cos 4LS doesn't want anyone touching their baby, and I fully agree with 'em:)

You talking about the "chocolate" one with Emi?:p

Hanako's H-scene was the only one that felt neccessary IMO; it was a beautiful deconstruction of the White Knight syndrome.

Man, I love Hanako's route so much...

Katawa Shoujo, while it hasn't broken me completely in tears (only played Hanako's and Emi's Routes/Paths), it has made me look into myself and get off my lazy bum. It is inspirational (at least the good endings are. The bad ones just make you cry, a lot. Go play the Bad ending to Emi/Hanako if you want to cry).
KS really puts things into perspective...

Somehow Hanako's Good ending felt like a bad ending to me (her motivations for doing what she did) but that bit with the honey muffins was just incredible

Please don't remind me of Hanako! I felt like such an ass after Hanako's scene. I wish I could have stopped myself, but I couldn't. I am so glad that I got the good ending though, I need to replay it and read a bit slower though. I felt like I kinda rushed the end T-T

And yes, I am talking about Emi and the Chocolate. It was hilarious XD

Do you have any idea if there will be more VN's following Katawa Shoujo's wake? Ones that combine the daily lives and routines, how to live with them in a sad, happy, hilarious, respectful way like KS did?

I want a sequel so badly >.<

Or at the very least I want 4LS to stay together and make another game. Last I heard though that they were all going their separate ways :(
May I just say as OP that when i said that Katawa Shoujo nearly got me to cry it was from Hanako's good ending? Seriously, i was looking for an option to have Hisao step in front of a bus for what i made him do....

Back OT, I saw that several people reccomended Grave of the Fireflies, but i dont think that will help anymore... I saw it once alone when i was 12, once when I was 14 with my family, and once with a friend at 17.... (Also, if you two liked Katawa Shoujo, have you seen AnoHana? That was the saddest happy ending ive ever seen....)
