OF COURSE, stem cells may FIX IT ALL, but I'm an optimistic about science.

Alzheimer's or severe brain damage. Body falling to pieces is just your body, my mind falling to pieces is ME disappearing. That's just freaking horrifying, to me anyway.

Plus, you know, 50-60 years time I guess stem-cells will be able to fix the big physical problems anyway. It's gonna be less about 'living a healthy life to enjoy retirement' and more 'living a successful life to fund medical work to enjoy retirement'.

Going blind, deaf, having a stroke and dimentia would probably be the worst things I could think of. And Alzheimer's obviously.

Any of that happens to me and my body's getting a nice lethal dose of morphine. No way in hell am I going to keep on going if I'm deprived of things I love.

The seizing up until eventually you can't get to the kitchen without creaking like a bench supporting five fat people. Then falling over and having no one know except Mr. Waffle, the budgie. Who just taunts you.

I already have a fucked up wrist, so I'm going to greatly dislike the idea that I can't play guitar because or arthritis or something.

Another unpleasant thought is the prospect that my brain slowly rots while I'm still alive, just because I'm too old.

I guess it's the whole dying part that upsets me the most. I'm a dyed-in-the-wool athiest, so suddenly believing in an afterlife last-minute because I'm too scared just isn't going to happen. What bothers me is coming to terms with not being sentient after I die. A quite unsettling thought, and one that has kept me up a lot on long nights.

The ongoing fear that one day, my girlfriend will stop takin birth control pills without telling me and then get pregnant.

So untill male pills arrive, i guess i just gotta geta vasectomy (i think thats male sterilization, if not, thats what i meant) or just get a new younger girlfriend, and do the same when the new one gets all i-wanna-be-a-mom-ish.

Losing my memory would suck. Sometimes I forget random words and have to look them up to remember. It's like when they're on the tip of your tongue, but you just can't make it out. I hate forgetting things like that.

Yeah, that's what scares me the most too. I fear living long enough so that my friends and family all die before me and I die alone.
