What series needs a revival?

Ogre Battle!
Granted, it doesn't quite qualify for the listed criteria, unless you don't count re-releases, since the last time the series saw publication was in early 2011 when they remade the 2nd game in the series and released it on the PSP. And even then, that's only two months before it hits the early point of the window OP mentioned.

The last time the series got an (actually new) release was back in 2001! And it was great! And I enjoyed it! Though I'm convinced I'm the only person who ever has...
Plus the series is named after a Queen song, and takes subtitles from other Queen songs! How can we let this die?!

Yeah, I'd love to see Crash Bandicoot get a revival. So much cool stuff in those games. The NaughtyDog ones I mean.

Of course, Timesplitters is my personal choice...and it is getting revived. I just hope to hell it works.

This choice might be a silly one...maybe I could fill the void with a JRPG or two...but I'd like Level 5 to make another Dark Cloud/Chronicle-esque game. Not necessarily Dark Chronicle, but I'd enjoy something similar.

In the late bronze age there was this zelda knock off on segas master system called "Golvellius".
You run around, defeat the evil that befell the land and rescue the princess. After defeating the boss you get told that the valiant hero will now go and search for his long lost sister, which is the first time you hear of her and the fact that the hero apparently has family.
Credits roll, game is over.
Well, Sega, it's about time you told me how that adventure went.
Then again, Sega became well known later for kicking the fans in the nuts.
Sega "invented" "episodic" games in the Saturn/playstation/N64 era and promptly fucked it up.
"Shining force 3" was to be this epic trilogy saga, so you could buy "Shining force 3, part 1" outside of japan.
For a full price, this part one was certainly big enough so it's not like they delivered too little in the length department. Very nice game overall with a rather compelling story.
Wanna know how it continues? Well, start learning japanese because shining force 3 parts 2 and 3 only came out in japan.

One console generation later, we got to play "Shen mue". The inventor of quicktime events, back in a time where you weren't already tired of those before you started playing.
The main character's dad gets killed and you chase after him. You eventually board a ship to hong kong and with that, the game ends.
Wanna know what happens next? Start learning japanese. Although, the english dub in the first game was quite gruesome, so maybe you where lucky if you already learned japanese for the shining force games :p
So now you could play part 2 of the shen mue.
And after that the chances of anyone buying any kind of episode from sega where severly diminished because the Shen mue story never got an ending.

By the way, whatever happened to that episodic sonic game?

Another Dune game would be quite interesting. Empire Earth is also a good candidate.

There are so many games that could use a "real" revival/sequel, but that have been completly ruined by recent crap releases.

The SWAT Series

SWAT 4 was a great online game, despite its flaws. Played the shit outa it, and still would if GameSpy didnt pull the plug on the servers.

OT: The Mother series... I don't know how... But, even if it can't, I'll be fine with a trilogy re-release this time to include US/UK release...
There is actually a fan-made MOTHER 4 [http://www.mother4game.com/] in the works if that counts (thought it's not going to be done until around now next year)

Half Life.

Just kidding, maybe..

I would have to go with either unreal tournamnet or crash bandicoot, maybe it's just nostalgia speaking, but i had a lot of fun with these titles in the past.

Syphon Filter

Crash Bandicoot

Spyro The Dragon (because Skylanders dropped that little Gremlin it called Spyro faster than I dropped the egg I had to take care of as if it were a child back in grade 7)

And well Legacy of Kain. Though the only way I could see them reviving this series without infuriating fans would involve them probably having to drop Kain from the title and just having revolve around another part of Nosgoths? history. Maybe a game based around a young Vorador or the ancient vampires and the Hylden.

Devil May Cry. shame they never continued the series after the third one. It was shaping up to be a really good one too. Who shelves a franchise after two games anyway?

Age of Mythology: That one is mostly for the nostalgic reasons on my part since I never got into te multiplayer scene and don't know if its worthy of the mystrious word "balanced" or sold that much in the ifrst place but single player was just too much.

Megaman: I just couldn't believe how Capcom has ran this series into the ground.( I know better now though) There is no reason why it couldn't be developed with a more modest budget in mind. Its sales wasn't setting the world on fire maybe but it has proven time and time again that it has a decent fanbase so...we will never get a new one will we?

Half Life: This one might be a bit obscure but it could definitely use at least one more game before being canned.

Opposing Force: Now this one might not be a series but it certainly deserves to have one. I always considered it to be the hyperactive cousin of the main series. May not be as subtle but puts it to shame at times.

Oh and somebody needs to dig out the Adventure Island series, write the first and the fourth game out of the series and make it a digital only title please.

I'd say many SEGA classics like Shinobi, Space Harrier, Golden Axe and Alien Syndrome. Outrun 2006 was pretty good. Also Lemmings! Those games were so fun!

Those games would be amazing with new shiny graphics!

Jak & Daxter. I don't know what the game(s) would be about, but I love that series - except for the racing game and that PSP thing, those sucked.

I would be happy with another turn based Warlords game, the RTS's were pretty nice but I dunno, another game like Warlords 3 Darklords Rising would be awesome for me.

Turok. Always Turok.
Turok, Turok, Turok.
If you've seen me around here before, I always post Turok. There's no reason why it shouldn't. It was a great series, until the pretty average 2008 reboot.
The game wasn't grounded by one setting, since it was all over. The games could have any number of creative environments, with awesome creatures, and fucking Dinosaurs.
The weapons were awesome.
Easily my favorite video game soundtracks of all time (mainly 1 and 2).
And had a very interesting story.
The Turok lineage needs to be continued.

Aww, I was hoping I'd be the first to mention this one. I have loved that series since it's beginning. Tenchu Z had the great idea of allowing you to make your own Ninja. It's only real downside was the repetition of levels. Co-op was great fun too.

I also loved this series. Especially as I first played it when I was quite young (I have always enjoyed strategy games) and found it impossible without cheats. I then bought them later when older and could do them properly.

Dark Cloud/Chronicle. Oh god, a new one of those would be a system seller for me.

They both had their own strengths and flaws but man the weapon systems and town building were just excellent. Throw in the character switching, photography/invention, time travelling and other shenanigans and it's still a series I hook up the ol PS2 to play through again.

Gargoyle's Quest desperately needs a sequel. Even when Firebrand was in one of the fighting games, we didn't get super-muscled badass Firebrand.

We got the Firebrand that came from some guy's attempt to draw a character he knows nothing about, which was then slapped on as the front cover.

Capcom hates quality.

Speaking of Capcom, although you could argue that Dead Rising is a spiritual sequel to Breath of Fire, Breath of Fire 5. There's going to be something similiar. Only in Japan. On mobiles.

Capcom hates national accesability.

EDIT: D. D was probably the only good game on the 3DO, and is known today as a cult classic, where you are a college student investigating her father's murders. It was then made into a survival horror game, then into a weird... thing, that came from one of the developer's Parasite Eve fan projects.
