a prefer FPS to be based on more of a scifi war rather that a realistic one thats why i never really been a big fan of COD games or the MOH games because there too much like real life for me i want a game where i can fight gaint mutants and drive a tank through i destroyed and ruined city while having to survive horde after hord of alien attacks xD

For me, I would kill for a realistic War game.

A large open battlefield with trenches, tanks, and snipers. (Not these "short range snipers" I mean the ones who take you out from several hundred meters away)

Im not talking 20 odd people on the map. I'm talking a fall scale war, with hundreds of players on each team. I don't know how many people would enjoy this, but to me, it would be FPS Heaven.
Amen

It should include: all kinds of co-op, horde mode (customizable), competitive multi-player (customizable), a level-editor, open-world gameplay, side-missions, a good story, a lot of enemies and a lot of guns... Basically.

I almost forgot about the leveling system... It is crucial... And a lot of crazy glitches/tricks.

--Xvito, keeping it excellent.

A crowbar !

oh and a good story is also important for me .
I love how you prioritise a crowbar over a good story :)

It depends what kind of fps it is. At the moment i want Serious Sam 3, so i'm looking for huge, stupid guns.
Yes, Serious Sam 3 will = the shit

and

That is Fucking amazing! I'm going to create this for real!

I want a HUGE gun battle. Two armies lined either side of a war torn city. You're standing on scorched earth, locking & loading. As you look left & right, you can see hundreds of your comrades standing shoulder to shoulder with their weapons of choice.

CCCCHHHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAARGE!!!!!!!!!!!!

A good FPS...Epic explosions, an AMAZING opening scene.
I was worried that all FPS's had got rid of an epic start, Killzone 2 has safely brought that back.

Weapon wise? I like the typical choices, I just don't like how you ALWAYS get them in the same order starting with a pistol and assault rifle then shotgun, sniper, better assault rifle, explosive weapon and then unique point.
Let us start with RPG's and end up with pistols, just for the lulz!

Sounds more like Lag-topia to me.

Intresting story, good scenery, destructable scenery, different weapons(As many people have stated already) than the normal ones, and of course, characters that seem like human beings (Or at least SANE things,) and of course, good voice-acting......Wait, did I just say everything IN a game........oh wait, I forgot multi-player/co-op....

Epic shooters should give the impression you?re not the only one fighting. Giving you situations where you fight with significant numbers of other soldiers, as well as other battles to witness, dog fights in the air etc.

Weapons with colourful beams, vehicle fight scenes, lots of explosions and a sense of irony. regenerating shields, also. No use in being frustrating.

MAG Supports 256 players, not sure about the other things you mentioned though

To be truly epic, the sound has to be awesome. No ones wants wimpy gunfire or thin explosions. Throw in a righteous soundtrack while you're at it.

crowbars are stupid, you have a crowbar, but you can't pry open a locked door

true sand box, where you can truly go everywhere

a good story, and by good, I meant immerse and with cross sections with reality, I believe thats the best way to get your attention make a fantasy story crossing with reality, and with Tense moments, kind of like Fear 1

Variety, yes a FPS mean you have to shot in first person view, but do you have to shot everything, I think its proved is old, so good interaction with the surrounding, even if we have to cook for a marriage in Mars

and Humor :) even if its dark humor

of course Big guns :), I like to hit them and they go down, with a splatter preferably, or just an explosion, were parts fly around everywhere

Oh I got it, every single epic FPS should feature at least one elegant ballroom dance.

Just imagine it, Masterchief and Samus and a lot of marines and aliens perform the 'Dance of the sugar plum fairy' in full coreography. Keep it in first person, mix it completely with the shooting so that you shoot while elegantly dancing. That would be amazing.

No matter how epic a game is, it can be more epic if it has an awesome co-op mode.

How about something different than the same seven weapon categories every other game in the genre has?
So it should be more like Ratchet And Clank. I think I'm on to somthing with this.
