turns out the cure to kill of the virus was in the underground lab in raccon city. when your charcter hears this the screen turns black and you hear a gun shot and the game over screen comes on and says thank you for playing

They restore back proper zombies and go back to cities etc to regain the horror element. I did quite like the gameplay in RE5 though. Although it was rigid that was what made some parts tense =P
