When you go to Tokyo, I'd really suggest bringing a detaile map, and possibly someone who knows their way around. Tokyo is so big that the Japanese don't regard Tokyo as a city, but as a region, it's THAT big!
But once you get there, eat some unusual dishes (octopus/takoyaki, etc.), see some performances (Kabuki, JRock), visit some famous locales (Tokyo Tower, Fuji-san), and enjoy not getting lost.
