Hi! Long time browser, and I think I actually did have an account at one time some time ago, but it was long enough that I don't remember it, and can't find it, so forget it! New account time! Hi!
Back to business at hand: baring the massive bias toward PC (not completely unfounded; this was the first year I ever made a Steam account, too. Left 4 Dead 2!), and massive bias against Nintendo (again, not entirely unfair; the WiiU should have been released a little later than it was, with all the awesome games about to come out for it, or should have come out with Gamecube Backwards Compatability, too), I figured this would be a great place for me to get some advice with other fellow gamers.
Now that we're on the next generation of gaming, I wanted to look at some of the games I didn't have a chance to play. I had a Wii (loved it) and have a 360 (Xbox Live can die in a fire), but I never got a PS3. And if I could come up with a list of 20 or so games for it that I know I'd like to play or should have played, I was going to invest in it and play for a bit.
I've got the following games in mind, but wanted to ask for any other recommendations from the Escapist!
-Yakuza 4 (The TwoBestFriends played this. They barely played half the content. It looks sexy.)
-Anarchy Reigns (Another TBFP, but since seeing it in action, I've been watching stuff for it on youtube, and it actually inspired me to make this list in the first place. I tried buying it on the 360, but when I found out it had -no- local multiplayer of any kind, I immediately returned it, since I wasn't going to get on Xbox Live again. But the Ps3's multiplayer is supposed to be free, right? Definitely hitting that if so! If not... what a buzz-kill.)
-House of the Dead 4 (One of my favorite light gun games; wish it were available on the Wii...)
-Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix (massive Kingdom Hearts fan, beat 1 and GBA and Days, but would love to play the super versions brought to america!)
-Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Remix (likewise)
-Infamous (Because that's just nothing but awesome)
-Prototype (again, likewise)
-Resident Evil 5 (only if A) Capcom doesn't release it on Steam or otherwise on PC without GFWL, and B) if the PS3 still has free multiplayer, unlike Xbox Live and like with Nintendo. Otherwise, pass.)
-The Last of Us (I heard that this has a multiplayer, alongside a superb single player, though I never really investigated it.)
That's 7 definitely, and potentially 9. Any thing else worth investigating?
A few notes about my playstyle, for anyone willing to respond back:
I'm terrified of scary games. Resident Evil 4-5 barely skirt the line, since they've got just enough action to dilute the scariness. Resident Evil 6 wasn't scary at all, and the action was both too much and done poorly. Huh.
Shooters.... I don't mind shooters, but the gritty, realistic, cover-based brown, military, generic white protagonist fighting against foreigners? Not my thing. Halo 1 was the best Halo, but I'll still play 007 Goldeneye any day.
Complete and total Nintendo Fanboy (I just wished they did their business a bit better, but I still hold genuine hope that they aren't going to be the Dreamcast of this generation. Gamecube support would have helped them out, as would have proper marketing, but I've had a lot of fun with my friends and my games, Mario Kart's already awesome, Bayonetta 2 and Project X and Hyrule Warriors and whatever Retro decides to do should help with the sales, and SMASH BROS WITH MEGAMAN is gonna be the Hypest Gaming on Youtube!), so things that are more fun than they look are usually a plus in my book, realism be damned. Things that are supposed to look good before they play good, on the other hand, can usually die in a fire. (pardon my rant)
I have a handful of best friends nearby, so local multiplayer is cool. Single player I usually just rent unless it's -amazingly- good. Once I've beaten a game, I usually move on and mark it as part of my conquest unless I enjoyed it enough to keep going.
I think that should be enough info... anyone have any insight for me? I appreciate it all!
