Silent Hill 2 is well worth a roll.. you can likely get it on your PC, even if you can't find a PS2 kicking about (hm. or xbox for that matter).

Also, your English is fantastic mate - no worries at all.

Diablo I & II are pretty great. They're both 6+ years old, and don't demand much power from your computer.

For the console, Destroy All Humans is a game I never get tired of... Some people don't like it. Can't say I know why...

The Final Fantasy series is awesome as well, but, like Destroy All Humans, a lot of people hate Final Fantasy. Again, I can't see why anyone wouldn't like them.

If you're into Real-Time Strategy games, Medieval II is wonderful. As is Civilization IV. Medieval is pretty demanding, but I have no idea whether or not your computer can play it. All I know is that my nVidia 8200 GeForce plays it well enough. Also in the RTS category, Age of Empires III: The Asian Dynasties are good.

Sorry for the long post. I'm just excited. hehe

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Call of duty:World At War is going to suck. It's not being made by Infinity Ward, the company that made 1, 2, and 4, it's made by Treyarc, who royally cocked-up 3.

Get Psyconauts, one of the best games I've ever played, and it's free with the free version of Gametap (where I have it).

Starwars Knights of the Old Republic is good. One of the best RPGs I've ever played, only surpassed by Mass Effect.

The Prince of Persia: Sands of Time trilogy is great too

It depends on what you like. If you're an RPG person, I can easily suggest both Knights of the Old Republic games, as well as Mass Effect. Only having an Xbox does hem you in a bit, though. If you can buy a PS2 (and they're not all that expensive anymore), I can also suggest Kingdom Hearts both one and two (behind the Disney exterior is an exceptionally fun real-time combat system, and a surprisingly engaging story). You should grab Final Fantasy X, and maybe XII (though I ended up so bogged down in grind city that I gave up about 80% of the way through XII). You may also want to play VII, if for no other reason than the desire to be able to decide whether it's a great game that's simply outdated, or an overly-revered pile of garbage.

Civilization 4, especially with the Beyond the Sword expansion is a lot of fun. The latter day Command and Conquer games might also interest you. You can grab older years of most of the sports games for the 360 for really cheap (I got the entire set of 2008 games for about fifteen dollars). Aside from that, it's really going to be up to you to decide what you like in terms of types of games, gameplay mechanics, and then go from there.

I'm American an had no problem understanding you, cheers!

I agree with many of the poeple here that some old school PC games may be some hidden gems for you. I would recomend Planescape: Torment and Vampire the Masquerades.

As for your 360, there are tons of good games out there, it all depends on what you like. Some older titles that are great and probably really cheep now...
Crackdown, a underapreciated gem

Lost Planet - good action and walking tanks, I loved it for the campain play, online was fun, but not that big an online following anymore. A pretty big hit when it came out, but that was a little while ago and people have forgotten about it.

Gears of War - you didn't list this as one of the titles you have played. It is probably cheap now, I would definately give it a try.

Assassin's Creed - a lot of naysayers about this game, so it is a love it or hate it kind of game. I would give it a rent.

If you like RPG, I would check out Mass Effect or continue with Oblivion.

And welcome to the Forums!

If you followed the development of Project Ego, don't play Fable, as it's nowhere near what was promissed. Even on its own, it stands more as an experiment of sorts - both as a poor derivative of The Sims and Grand Theft Auto in ye average medieval fantasy tropes, and of how far a game's success depends on how well a developer galvanizes fanbases.

Games I've been currently enjoying include Defcon: Everybody Dies, Devil May Cry 4 and Audiosurf. Other than these, Bioshock is also entertaining for quite a while. And the Orange Box is a definite must.

I'm aware that Treyarch is developing CoD5, However. They also developed United Offensive, which was wonderful to play.

Besides, just because they screwed up on the console version of 3 doesn't mean I can't give them a chance with 5.

Someone earlier had mentioned the new Ninja Gaidens for Hack'n'slash. I'll give them a try, but when I settle in for a nice dungeon crawler (as I'm informed they're called) or Hack'n'slash I prefer the [local] multiplayer settings.

Well, given that Fable was released a few years back - and that I just recently got into gaming (2 months or so ago) No, I did not follow "Project Ego" Though I have read up on it. Despite all that was lacking from Fable, and yes I understand those of you that followed it were sorely disappointed. I still had a blast playing it. It's what seems to happen when developers promise the world, and then are rushed to present it.

Sure, in a few more years, with a bit more of a budget - they probably could have done it. So what? It was still fun to play. And I'll be purchasing the second. I may not have been what was promised, but at the same time...what games are anymore? Based on what I've discerned from researching..not many.

Sorry about that - I actually misunderstood that part of your post. I thought you hadn't played Fable, hence the redundand suggestion.

On Fable... It's just not my cup of tea, hence why I would have a hard time recommending it.

Your list is extremely FPS heavy, though you obviously have a pretty good idea of what's good.

I recommend Dead Rising, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, Devil May Cry 4, Grand Theft Auto 4, and Soul Calibur 4. And probably anything else with the number four on it.

I only know PC games, but definitely F.E.A.R. (First Encounter Assault Recon) and Stalker. Swat 4 is supposed to be good, and can be picked up cheap; I got that and the expansion for $5 or $6 each but haven't loaded them yet. Aliens vs Predator 2 is still excellent, although the graphics will be dated. Rainbow 6: Vegas isn't too bad, but get it cheap. Battlefield 2 is good multi-player, and should be cheap. Doom 3 is okay if you get it cheap, but it gets repetitive fairly quickly. Painkiller is good, and Far Cry is excellent - again, cheap. Those are all FPS, about the only thing I play.

And your English is excellent. Pronunciation may be difficult coming from a different language group -although English doesn't seem so diferent from German, if you speak that -but it's a big country; I have a hard time being understood (or at least not being ridiculed) in some parts of it. Some Americans are jerks, and we have a rule in America that all jerks, asshats, and hooting dickholes are immediately issued an XBox 360, a PC, and Internet access. Ignore them and rest assured they speak not a word of Icelandic.

I agree with TheKbob, pick up Titan Quest, it's a fantastic hack and slash.
I suppose I just didn't enjoy it as much as you guys did. He said he had tried it tried it (as mentioned above) and I agree that it just felt like it was trying too hard to be Diablo.

But even still - It's more of a point'n'click than a hack'n'slash game anyhow...that and the classes seemed mega-unbalanced

Pick up Condemned: Criminal Origins for the 360 (I think it's on the PC, too.) It's one of my all time favorite 360 games.

i'd recommend Sid Meier's Pirates for the PC, not the best game in the world, but its cheap and great if you like to just screw around and live out all your pirate-related fantasies
