It shouldn't be called anything besides what they called it. Yes it sounds dumb now, but the name "Wii" sounded dumb when they first said it but by now nobody gives a crap, they're just used to it.

Pretty sure I remember a whole bunch of "...the fuck?" reactions with the 360's arbitrary numbering but now nobody gives two shits.

...I kid. I think Wii U is pushing it a little far with names, but Yuu looks weird and would lead to interesting conversations in stores.

Although it seems kind of drawl, their safest bet probably would have been to just call it the Wii 2.

The funny thing is that your first idea COULD work. I'm not completely sure, but I think the Japanese word for 2 is "Ni", or something that sounds like that. So, it really would be the Wii 2.
