Yes, this is a thread response to all the discussions about My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I'm a bit confused about people who say that "of course I don't watch My Little Pony! I'm a grown man For Fuck's Sake!"
More precisely, I started to wonder what is deemed 'acceptable' to watch.
I imagine the answers will be something along the lines of CSI and Mad Men or what have you.

Hey, you never get too old for American Saturday morning cartoons! And personally, I think that if you care so much what others think of you that you only let yourself watch certain shows, you seriously need to put that inferiority complex in check.

Anyhow, I don't consider myself 'mature' by any stretch of the word, so I just watch what I feel like and I enjoy it (usually).

Anything that has good enough writing, and by the sounds of it, that Pony show counts too.

Also, fix the grammar in your title, it angers me.

I don't know, Archer or It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. CSI and Mad Men are good examples as well. But really, who cares about the "maturity" of a television show? They're meant to entertain, not necessarily "enlighten." As long as you enjoy watching MLP:FM, then watch it

If the show has an episode where noone dies, or is subjected to heavy violence, it is not acceptable to watch for anyone but children and womenfolk.

Watch what you want to watch and if anyone gives you guff, to hell with em.

I've been enjoying Blue Bloods, Breaking In, Burn Notice, The Late Late Show, and Castle.

None, because you had to ask a stupid question like that. If you are mature you won't give a shit about what you watch as you yourself deems it worthy to be watch.

I believe that this thread is a response to the levels of "it's for silly girly men" and "wtf grown men watch this?"

I see what you did there and I like it (for lack of a less silly way and more mature way of saying I liked your post).

I dunno, all I know is that the only currently airing TV I watch is NCIS, Castle, Bones, QI and Burn Notice.

You know what's a really manly show? My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I mean check out this screenshot of a quote that is clearly not something I blatantly just edited up.

If you are truly mature, then you'll know to stick to whatever you like, and allow yourself to also indulge in something less thought-provoking from time to time.

Be it dismembering aliens for profanity score points in Bulletstorm, or watching toy ponies in psychedelic colours do inconsequential cutesy stuff, none of it really precludes being mature in the least; unless that's all you do.

As for that weird other sense of mature - the "please think of what we think of the children" 18+ sense - then realistic violence and depictions of sex is apparently what marks that one out. Though that needn't preclude [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/95937-This-Is-the-Best-Trailer-for-a-Japanese-Porn-Game-Ever] cutesy, inconsequential, and psychedelic in the least...

Jesus H. Christ on Ice Skates! Stop caring what other people think. Watch what you wanna watch, do what you wanna do and be yourself. People will judge you no matter what. Everyone has their own view of what's "acceptable" for everything. What's acceptable to wear, do, how to act, what to say and more.

Don't let other people decide what you like for you, decide for yourself. If they don't like it, they can go fuck themselves, simple as that. Don't waste your time trying to meet the bullshit expectations people put out there, because no matter what you do, someone will find it "unacceptable".

Look at video games. There are people that perceive them as toys and think that a grown, mature man playing with "toys" is "unacceptable". These same people are ignorant to them because they never give them a chance. They don't know the entertainment, the joy, the bliss that someone can get out of videogames. Yet you have absolutely no problem playing videogames, right?

The same goes for MLP. They don't give it a chance, stuck in their own little worlds where everyone has to be like this and everyone has to be like that. They're unaware that IN THE REAL WORLD, people like what THEY like and not what someone else TELLS THEM they should like.

I'll say it again. Like what you like and don't give a fuck what anyone thinks.

You're a frikkin monster truck. They can either get the fuck out of your way or they can get run over.

Keep this in mind: Most of the people who freak out over men watching MLP: Friendship is Magic are mostly young teens in their "I can't associate with kiddy stuff" phase.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand and The Venture Bros are my favourites. Not really "mature" though.

Dexter?

I'll admit that I watched Rugrats till I was about 15.
