A little warning for this song. It does involve violence, murder, suicide, and rape. If you dislike the mention of any of these then this song may not be for you.
Haha I once had the great idea to play that for my mother and she has never let me live it down.

As far as powerful songs go I always love The Raven King and Honor The Fire by Killing Joke off of their Absolute Distant album

The Roots have had consistently blown me away with some of their songs as well

I cant really think of anything that has blown me away recently though

I've always loved the guitar solos in old-school metal ballads, like GNR 'November Rain' or Dire Strait 'Brothers In Arms'.
Enter Steve Vai, one of the best guitarists in the world, with an entire album dedicated to guitar solo compositions.
Honestly all the songs are great, but 'For The Love Of God' stands out as being the most memorable as well as the most famous. Every time I listen it inspires feelings of awe and a sense of serendipity in me.

The Orb's 'Little Fluffy Clouds' fair took my head off when I first heard back in the 90s...

I'd just left school for university and I had literaly no idea music could sound anything like that.

Apart from that, the cover Disturbed made of The Sound of Silence was a fucking masterpiece and really blew me away. I'm not a fan of the band and I'm a bit annoyed by the vocal editing(his low notes doesn't sound right and I've yet to find a video where he does them live), but overall the video and the song is mesmerising.
I remember finding the song on youtube and even being an old disturbed fan, I just thought "What the fuck is Disturbed doing playing The Sound of Silence?" Then I was blown away by it.

Here's a live version, might have what you're looking for.

Manowar - Heart of Steel

From a band that made its name known by all the power metal ballads and strong vocals, here's a song which takes all that and perfects the style.

Great song.Yes. You're absolutely right. They don't make songs like that anymore.

Several great orchestral tracks have done this for me, but I suppose the one that always sticks out in my mind is "United We Stand, Divided We Fall" by Two Steps From Hell. To me, this is what happens when you merge the concepts of power and beauty and transpose the result into song.

Great song.Thank you

Well, for the 'feeling like a Superhero' it would be the main theme of 'Xenoblad Chronicles X'. Just listen to 3:35 to the end to understand why. I think it would be an amazing addition to the Video Games Live set list.

And for the more introvert times of the day I recommend the song playing in the finale of 'Journey'. The beginning works better with the visual context, but my God is this track bittersweet with my interpretation of what's happening in the game.

That song is really exceptional. But it isn't something you put on your ipod, you know. You listen to it, and you hear a great story, and then you don't want to listen to it again because it is so dark. The final lines are so good though.
Something like,"If you ever have the choice to dance with the devil, always say never, because a dance with the devil, last forever" *piano*
Probably just butchered it.

This one for me:

Also this guitar instrumental is literally amazing. I play guitar, and it is so beyond my level, like if I were to try and compete against Usain Bolt.

After growing up on classic rock, I saw this on a local video show when I was 13. I'm not exaggerating when I say that it changed my entire life in an instant. It changed my drumming style, my writing style, and even my fashion style, which was pretty much like Siouxsie all the way through high school.

A friend introduced this to me playing while Board Game Online and after a few more listens, I realized it could make an epic Boss soundtrack. Not big on metal but I love when multiple instruments and voices harmonize.

A few:

It just has a very haunting melody to it and draws me in.

I just couldn't believe that a Police song could be so perfectly metal... plus I love Chad's vocals.

The solo and the outro to this song are beautiful and they make me cry every damn time. The outro just feels like saying goodbye to someone, and I listen to the song whenever I'm remembering my brother who passed away in 2010. Generally one of my favorite songs of all time. Note the video link is an extended version but the outro just... it is so awesome. RIP Dimebag, you were taken from us too damn soon.

The latest Dark Soul's trailer had a hozier song called In The Woods Somewhere, and holy shit is it a masterpiece. I mean, it worked in the trailer I guess, but as a standalone piece of art it's pretty fucking gripping. Also hugely underrated.

Also, my favorite song ever:
