Shihad's "My Mind's Sedate" or Shihad's "The General Electric" for me. Pump-up songs rather than calming songs though.

Undead by Hollywood undead. Listen to the uncensored version (if you don't mind cursing and such) if you can. Always gets me pumped.

Hybrid Moments by the Misfits melows me out in a rough situation
The Misfits are good. They make me more relaxed and apathetic if I need motivation to do stuff, though. I just feel like singing the "woooaaaaaaah" parts of their songs >_<

This sounds like energy to me.

If you are not inclined towards folk metal...
^ Remember there's a part two for that one.

The thought crossed my mind that it could feel a little dissonant listening to songs with themes like meaningful causes, fantasy, and abstract appreciative things when it's for sport.

I like this one. It's a driven, lively sound, with few words.

Well only recently started listening to this "DJ" thanks to my friend but I'm really falling in love with his music.

This certain song might do it, starts off really relaxing and calm, then slowly getting moar pumped up.

Eargasm imo.

PS: Deadmau5 is the only trance "DJ" I know so I can't really recommend anything but his songs if you liked that.

Usually strong riff songs give me energy like Iron Man from Black Sabbath or Aqualung by Jethro Tull. You want a riff you can hum to yourself while doing stuff.

I don't get this forum. Why is it that people are against vs threads when these types of threads don't promote any discussion at all either? Is it because music is popular?

Oh well, don't care really, just wonderin'.

Well, when I was sitting my exams earlier this year, before I went into the hall I'd set aside a couple of minutes to listen to Guarantees, by Atmosphere. It was such a simple ritual but I did it for every exam and the song settled me enough so I was ready to just go into the hall and get it over with.

Ecstasy of Gold, preferably the Ennio Morricone version, though the Metallica cover is nice too. But seriously, listening to The Ecstasy of Gold by Ennio Morricone, even makes looking for a lost sock seem epic. Try it.
