I don't listen to a lot of classic rock, but I do like me some Billy Joel, Paul Williams, and Bruce Springsteen. I feel like they've all got the right balance of good music AND good lyrics.

Bah, ninjaed on everything.

Try some Tool and some early Muse and some Radiohead and some Gojira then, I guess.

Something with guitars and drums and shit that I don't mind listening by default:

Jimi Hendrix
Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Offspring
System Of A Down
At The Drive-In
None of those bands (except Hendrix) are classic Rock. Because they're from the 90's. A bit to late.

Nicky Minaj
As I've said so many times before: Nicky Minaj doesn't rap, she stutters.

On a side note, I'd like to thanks everyone so far, especially for the lack of suggestions for Journey and Foriegner.

I kind of like the late '80s rule. I love Radiohead and Red Hot Chili Peppers, but they're not classic rock. Give them maybe 10-20 years.

King Crimson
Guns and Roses
Simon and Garfunkel
The Zombies
The Animals
Bob Dylan
Neil Young

I agree that it has to have been a "late 80's era" band at the LATEST.

It really bothers me that my classic rock station plays "Time of your Life".

Post 16 and still no Clarence Clearwater Revival. Good god what is the matter with kids these days.
A couple friends and I want to start a CCR cover band. We're going to call yourselves Clarence Clearwater Revival Revival.

I also wrote a cover to Maroon 5's "Moves Like Jagger". It's called "Drug Habits Like Jagger".

The Animals

Most of the ones I would add were already added. I really want to listen to classic rock now.

Motorhead
Van Halen
The Eagles
Creedence Clearwater Revival
Rolling Stones

I love how many non-rock bands are being mentioned. Makes my grotesque monstrosity of an ego feel nice.

Ninja'd on just about everything...except ELO. Pretty surprised they haven't been mentioned yet. And Asia and Whitesnake, though that's getting into hair metal territory.

Okay, I'm sorry, but some of those just don't belong. The Sex Pistols, Talking Heads, The Clash, The Cars, The Pixies, Velvet Underground, and The Stooges, are NOT classic rock (Especially SP; John Lydon would be infuriated by that connection).
Well, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, and The Stooges are all classic punk rock. Which makes them fall under the banner of classic rock, in my eyes.

And I don't know where you come from that The Cars and The Talking Heads are not considered classic rock. Because they really are, and I hear their stuff on classic rock stations all the time. :p

Wolf mother (A rip off of old rock)
The fuck? you're kidding right?
Kind of.
They seem to be a harken back to the good days of Rock and Metal; Not a new genre changing band. I like them and they are awesome so I should have been a bit less blunt about it.

Classic rock being the huge lump of musical greatness that it is there is a heap.
Short list.
  • AC/DC
    Led Zeppelin
    Black Sabbath
    Pink Floyd
    Budgie
    Deep Purple
Wolf mother (A rip off of old rock)
    The Angles
    Billy Squire
    The Doors
    Grand Funk Railroad
    Humble Pie
    Jefferson Airplane
    T-Rex
    Queen
    Talking Heads
    Uriah Heep
    Warren Zevon
    and The Who

But there's a lot of good new stuff out there too man! Try Band of skulls; Tame Impala; Cold war kids and Cloud control out.
I am SO ECSTATIC to see someone, somewhere, knows of Warren Zevon. Favorite artist of all time. I'm sure he's raising hell in Denver as we speak.

Some things I'd add to that list:

  • Allman Brothers Band
    Bob Seger
    Creedence Clearwater Revival
    Cream
    David Bowie
Dire Straits (Burger King commercials are ruining a great song.)
    Eric Clapton
    Jethro Tull
    Rolling Stones
    Rush
    Thin Lizzy
    Yes
    ZZ Top

Edit: Heh. Lots of adding as I rummage through all my CDs..
