I love to be the support character, so I'm mostly a pacific cleric or a bard. I'm more of an optimized role-player so these characters are a lot of fun and the rest of the part appreciates them since I usually also "max" their usability.

Healers or psycho bitches.
And, of course, the occasional lizard-warrior.
Ooo! Me to. Besides the psycho bitchs and lizard warriors. Psychopathic fireball throwing snooty mage.

I play sword weilding mages. More swords until they get enough health and magic so that I can pretty much just zap critters with lightning until they die. I've tried to variate my playing styles, but I just can't.

I've only pen and paper'd RPG'D once or twice, but both times I played a cheerful chaotic good ranger.

In morality based games I almost always played the good guy on first time through (it just seems like being the hero usually gets you the "real" ending).

In your average rpg with a melee/magic/stealth split, I'll play a mage with stealth elements most often.

My favourite is a healer or support class when playing online with others, I work best in the background....

I favor magicky support characters, either the all-round guys that can drop back to healing if needed, or the healer classes.

However I've occasionally favored tanks, especially if the tank class has more fun ways to do it than just run-up-to-enemy-and-click, pick next enemy, etc. Add some skills for going apeshit on mobs, or a bit of technique in executing attacks, and I have lots of fun spraying death at a wide radius.

EDIT: Or, the class that lets me piss off the enemy players by nerfing their tanks, crippling their healers, and so forth.

Generally some type of mage, the kind of thing where you can dance around the target and blow bits of it off without stopping until he dies without knowing what hit him, and keeping him held in one place where he wont be a problem.

Arg, I really don't know... I ususally end up the big lumbering soldier type, like the Rook from Demigod. But I'd prefer being one of those lean archer-types.

In MMOs, I always play cute young redhead chicks. I can't play male characters, I just can't stare at a guy's arse for hours/days on end. They usually have some kind of massively innapropriate super power (in City of Heroes, she was 5'0, weighed less than 8 stone and could take any blow up to and including a nuclear bomb without breaking stride)

Games which are slightly less long term, I usually make a vague approximation of myself and piss about.

A Byronic Ranger or a paladin played as close to neutral good as I can get without falling.

Or a ridiculously arrogant wizard.

As generic as it is, I prefer the big tough warrior in heavy armor, except in WoW, where I was a healer (and pretty good at it).

I like to be the black guy if I can or the old guy(Left 4 Dead) or anybody that looks cool. But in fighting games like Street fighter I'm either a big dude or the skinny fast character.

Always the Sorcerer, the permanent, talented magic user. If not, then a studious mage.

I tend to go more towards necromany where possible, but in a good light, if thats even possible.
