What sort of character do you typically play?

In terms of my moral compass, in games such as Fallout, I typically find myself swinging on the good side all the time. I always try to convince myself that I'm a badass, but at the end of the day I typically have a soft spot.

That being said, I always have a preference for heavy weapons and heavy armor, so I'm living proof that the good guys can come in powered armor and carry flamethrowers and miniguns!!

This also translates over to MMOs as well. I prefer heavy duty weapons and tough defenses, so in EVE I typically fly a battleship, and in the swords and sorcery style MMOs I usually go for a melee combatant who specializes in heavy armor and the biggest freaking sword/axe/flail/whatever I can carry.

Who says the good guys can't have the heavy artillery? :D

Ah, my archnemesis :) It's alright, we're all vulnerable to something. Besides, it makes it that much more satisfying when you slip up and find yourself on the business end of my minigun :D

I like to play as a rouge specialist character. And by specialist i mean like what the game specilizes in. and by that i mean like magic in Oblivion and Biotic in Mass Effect.

Back in 3.0 and 3.5 D&D, I played half-dragons, with the other half usually being some sort of monster race (goblin, or gargoyle if I really wanted to take a massive +ECL). I would generally build them as bruiser types, but the levels I had to sacrifice for the template meant I usually ended up as more of a glass cannon.

I've barely played 4.0, but my one character so far was a conspiracy theorist ranger (in Ebberron) who thinks that warforged are a Quori plot, the Day of Mourning was the result of Daelkyr machinations, the Sovereign Host is a front for the Dark Six, that silverware is actually living and will attack you when you're not looking, and that wolves are the reanimated husks of ancient deities.

I for one favor a pure wizard, a pure warrior, or some sort of lightning-tossing warlord clad in full plate. Furthermore, I tend to eschew finesse or subtlety, and as such my favored tactics are either "hit him hard and fast and hope he dies before you do," or "land a single devastating blow with great difficulty." Stealth? Bleh...

A tank, plain and simple. Give me tons of armor and a huge weapon and put me in the middle of the maelstrom. I don't waste time with stealth or magic. Time sneaking around or conjuring anything is time not fighting.

I really don't know what to answer here. I've got an 80 rogue and 80 priest in WoW, my highest LOTRO character is a ~30 burglar and my first two characters in my Age of Conan trial period were the Barbarian (a class that falls under 'rogue' in the game) and the 'Priest of Mithra'. Judging from that I seem to usually go for the rogue/assassin-like types because stealth wins so hard and those classes somewhat represent the 'loner' side of me, but I also seem to have a weak for healers.

That said though, I seem to enjoy pretty much any role as I've also tanked with a now 74 Death Knight in WoW and made the 'Guardian' my actual main in Age of Conan. All I can say is that for WoW, I sincerely prefer playing the priest over most other classes. In general, I really seem to enjoy all roles equally though, and what I end up playing is mostly a feeling of the moment when I create the character.

Ordinary people with exceptionel battle skills. From that I can explain that my favorite games are Half-Life, BioShock and Fallout.

Finesse fighters with a touch of assassin.

My latest, Garth of Greenway, boasts dual katars.

Chronos, Lord of Time. If this is in an actual RPG and not real life though... I usually play as a fighter in AD&D, with a mother who's a baker and makes horrible stale raisin fish toast.

To quote myself from something I wrote 10 minutes ago:

A wizard. Since you have a lot of spells, you can be a lot of things according to the situation. You can be the insta-death dealer, or the damage dealer, or the buffer, or the debuffer, the stealther... Hell the only thing you can't be is the healer!

A warrior/soldier, usually a pragmatic/cynical and reluctant to be a hero (from apathy and past experience, rather then cowardice). Used to be an idealist.

The sort of guy who sighs and draws his sword/gun and gets to work, not eager but prepared.

Good cleric for d&d. You can do some really awful things to your DM's plans if you get tricky with your spells and feats. You know you're doing it right if the DM starts making you the first target his uber-badass monsters go for.

Well in something like Guild Wars I can play everything but in something more like Oblivion I got for more a tank with some spells to heal him/herself and do some damage or support.
