I never, and I mean _never_ play a tank, warrior, melee person or anyone with a strength above "near zero", or any kind of endurance or stamina. I've never really understood why you'd make a warrior that can bash things and tank, because "everyone can do that" - IMO, if there is a magic option or a different approach, like talking your way out of situations, healing people that fight for you, or just not fighting at all, I'll take it. Needless to say, this leads to my stereotypical character: a Neutral Good Elven healer who is friendly, cares about others and is generally a nice guy to everyone he meets. I'll pick offensive spells only if absolutely needed, and focus on healing, keeping others alive and being nice. Priest, druid, cleric, healer, mage, leader, diplomat, "the nice guy", your friendly healer who comes to save the day, you name it.
Of course, this most of the time means I can't take more than two hits before falling to pieces, but IMO it's totally worth it. I mean, seriously, there is _magic_ in *insert random fantasy themed game here*! Who would _not_ want to play that? Also, I avoid all kinds of armor and weapons as far as possible. For instance, my Oblivion character is a Breton Healer, who walks around dressed only in robes and a hood in blue or green colours, sandals, wrist irons (unarmored gloves...) and a Wizard's Staff of Paralysis. I have never, and will never, free of will play a warrior, rogue or evil character, I just cannot bring myself to do it. It gives me such moral pangs to even be unfriendly to a random NPC on the street that I usually reload to an earlier save because I cannot make myself to keep playing knowing that I hurt their feelings.
Needless to say, I take my responsibilities as a healer or backup _very_ seriously, and my mottow whilst playing WoW was "Nobody dies while I'm the healer!", which I usually also lived up to.
Downsides to this include being slightly bored of the same type of character in every single customizable game ever, but I can usually not bring myself to play anything else than a sniper (and then I'll be sad for the people I am forced to kill), but alas. It seems less than common for players to be of this type, and I often wonder if I'm more or less alone in wanting to play genuinely caring, friendly healer types, or if I'm just the type of player that isn't really a gamer as usually perceived, since I abhor FPS, survival horror and anything that makes you kill people for no reason (RPG's are different, as you usually have a choice in the matter, and that it's often non-humanoids or demons or somesuch, which is slightly more acceptable to me but still sad) but then I wonder what kind of game that would be to fulfil my criteria of ideal - a pacifist give-flowers-to-little-kids game? Oh well. I've rambled for quite some time, but the topic struck a chord with me and I felt compelled to answer somewhat elaborately. Oh well, thanks for taking the time.
