I can't really think of many that would translate well into a game format, given that they mostly have characters dealing with small, horrifying, but not entirely "actiony" situations.
They lend themselves better to movies, not so much to games.

Though, I'll reccomend IT, if only so Tim Curry could play Pennywise again.

I don't think any of his books that I have read would translate well into a game. That said, a Red Dead Redemption style Dark Tower spinoff detailing the life and exploits of another gunslinger would be pretty cool.

Misery. I mentioned this recently in another thread. I'd just like to see how it would actually be managed, what the gameplay would even involve. Speech challenges, I would imagine there'd be a lot of those. Fatal ones too. It'd be like a text adventure - doing the wrong thing gets you murdered by Annie, whereas doing the right thing merits some sort of reward, like that drug that he gets addicted to (I forget the name).

But I dunno. It'd take a damn good developer to pull it off.

The Regulators and/or Desperation could work (both together would be weird, but good since they are "mirror" universes of each other). A small group making a last stand type scenario is the basic plot in both of them.

I agree with some of the others, most his stuff wouldn't work well as a game (I don't think they work well for movies either). His character development depends on hearing the character's inner dialogue...you can't do that in games/movies.

I could see this translating well to the type of format Heavy Rain used. Like when you're talking to Annie the different conversations options come up, but depending on how much you need a fix they could be all shaky.

Or when you're exploring the house while she's gone if you don't remember to put everything back where you found it she'll punish you, similar to how you had to wipe your fingerprints off everything Shelby touched in the typewriter shop(IIRC).

And it would work especially well for the ending conflict were everything is panicky and frantic.

It's a short story, but The Mist was turned into a text adventure back in 1985. I'm pretty sure the company that produced it (Angelsoft) no longer exists, so you might be able to find it online somewhere.

I've read a lot of his stuff and I kind of agree with people saying his books generally won't make good games. It's just his writing style doesn't lend itself to an interactive genre very well (IMHO).

I guess if I had to pick one, how about Christine? Kind of a survival-racing-car combat thing might be pulled off. Probably wouldn't be very good though, they'd have to veer off the book to give it some more action.

Maybe Salem's Lot if it was kind of like Alan Wake... maybe...

The problem with a game is that King follows his own rule of showing the monster as little as possible, which means that the game would have to be in the same vein as Amnesia: DD. However...

I agree with Desperation. After all, the monster wasn't seen but it controlled a lot of animals, plus the Final Boss Sheriff. It could work... maybe.

I don't know, maybe The Mist? I honestly haven't read any of his books just seen the films, but The Mist seems like it could be a great survival horror game.

the dark tower series, but not following roland & co. probably set during the fall of gilead and the rise of the good man, thats gold plated movie/game material right there

I dont know if the stand would make so much of a great book. they're really not alot in it except for walking and theology when you read it. Its definitely a better movie then book.

Desperation would probably be better then the regulators (i've read both), the dark tower, especially if you go with the second, fourth, fifth, and seventh books as the central points since those have more action and the first, third and sixth are more story, QTEs.

They eyes of a dragon might makea good fantasy book. Salem's lot would be a good survival horror book.

the talisman and THe black house would also make good fantasy games too.

I've only ever read 'It' and 'Under the Dome'.

It wouldn't work, and Under the Dome would ONLY work as a Heavy Rain type game.

So basically what the comic book's trying to do?

what would be wrong with roland and co.? Like i said in my post before, if you keep it mainly in the second, fourth, fifth, and seventh for action, first, third, and sixth for story and QTEs, it would be a great game. you'd just have to space it over the course of the a few (maybe just two) games.

Shining, pretty much self explanatory tbh, that shit is uber fucked and it would probably make for the best psychological survival horror ever, the film doesn't do it justice because Kubrick cut out some vital parts from the book
