I. Hate. Graphics. Whores. You know, those people that are all like "Oh, you're playing the Nintendo DS/GBA/GBC, ect., well, the PSP is soooo much better, 'cause the graphics are waay better" Or the ones that are like "(insert highly praised game with sub-par graphics by todays standards, E.G., LoZ: OoT/WW, SSBB) sucks, because the graphics aren't as good as (insert bad to mediocre game that had sub-par gameplay, storyline, etc., but had HD Graphics)", and believe that graphics in a game not being HD = it's a bad game Me being in the same room as one of those people will often result in an argument. I will insist that you can't judge a game by graphics alone. I will give them evidence that graphics aren't everything, such as LoZ: WW's cel-shaded, Super Deform-like character design, but amazing gameplay, storyline, ect., or the case of SSBB, which, while they did use realistic details for the characters, that was more of a novelty, and HAL Labs didn't use that as a selling point, and that the main selling point was the online connectivity, the deep storyline that you just can't get out of most FPS's, if the person knows their graphics techniques, and says that they just used textures to create those details, I'd point out that that's what ALL games do, making their argument invalid. If they still believe that all that is important about a game is the graphics, and everything else can go fuck themselves, I'd ask them how they'd like the games of today with HD graphics if all that you could do was look at the scenery. If that doesn't work, I become tempted to grab a sharp object, slit their throat, and eat their corpse a-la Alex Mercer.
That, and the stereotype of gamers as antisocial shut-ins, sitting on a couch with a blank stare on their faces. As evident by the existance (I probably spelled that wrong) of this site and many others proves that wrong, as we have very organized communities, there's online multiplayer games where you can communicate with other players with the right equipment. That, and Video Games as "mindless" entertainment, which is untrue as all entertainment involves stimulation of the brain, and that it probably involves more use of the brain than simply watching TV. Plus, there's games still having gaining points as the main goal. As all people know, those are mainly present in remakes of older games, puzzle games, and platformers. At least the Wii should cause less people to be critical of the video game industry. Now excuse me while I get back to forcing Jack Thompson to play Pokemon Collosseum (I'm forcing him to catch all of the shadow Pokemon so I can get Ho-oh in Pokemon FireRed version)
