By strange I mean, on halo if I have a pounding headache I will play amazingly in multi player, no clue why. It's just in between bitching to my mate that my head is wrecking I'll be destroying the other team. Bare in mind that normally I'm only a fairly good Halo3 player.

So guys, what other strange things boost your performance, that others might consider detrimental?

I play most games better when I'm a little drunk. Sober, I suck at Call of Duty. I drink four or more beers, and I just play better. Also, I play much better when I have almost no health left in a game.

When I'm using a gun I really like. For example, every time I use My AK-47 without any attachments I seem to do really well. The same applys when I use the XM8 on Battlefield Bad Company or the MG36. The guns I listed are good, but far from the best on their respective games, yet I always play better with them.

EDIT: Didn't see the strange in the title. I suppose I'll go for when I don't try at games, I always do better. I used to be pretty bad at COD 4, but since I've started playing more casually I have improved loads even though I've been using the same tactics(Grab Assault Rifle, rush enemy, rinse and repeat as necessary).

This is a fairly common one: Sleep deprivation. I don't know why, but my reflexes improve when I'm tired.

I tend to do things that require precise timing better when I'm slightly distracted, I think because when I'm too focused I get a little jumpy, and react too early.

I haven't noticed anything that makes me play better, but if anything it's what Johnn Johnston said, sleep deprivation. My brother and his friend can play really well if they're talking to someone.

Marijuana. It definitely contributes to immersion. I AM on the battlefield with my allies, combating the Al Qaeda as they send waves of suicide bombers(Martyrdom.) at me.

Complete silence. It helps hell of a lot. Also, a glass of milk (it does help!), and some Coldplay music (ahh, this headshot was so relaxed :D ).

Being warm, tired and having 750+ mls of coca cola, and duck and Hin Soi sauce chips makes me able to finish the plane level on CoD4 twice out of 15 tries.

I'd have to agree with the people that said alcohol. I always play better at three in the morning after a night on the lash. also for some reason i always seem to do a really fast lap on a racing game with my first ever try at a course, and then struggle like hell to beat it..

Full Bladder, will make me desperate enough to do what I have to, seems to work, and the reward is relieving.

The one time we were to irritated to have meaningfull sex, we played Army Of Two during sex, and completed the first three levels without a single death, or knockdown, on the Proffetional mode!

It was AMAZING!!!!!

Wait...sex + game at same time? that's quite a talent you have there...or I'm misinterpreting what you mean.
